Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the top 2028 wings in central Ohio, Wagner had a big game in a back and forth win over Worthington Kilbourne that went down to the final buzzer. Wagner started the game slow but got going with a step through bucket on a drive and a leakout layup. Those buckets got Wagner going and he proceeded to hit a 3-pointer off a BLOB set and scored a 4-point play to take the lead in the second half. Groveport has had back-to-back strong seasons and with a strong 2028 class they should remain one of the better teams in the OCC.

made his presence felt as a big guard who was a tough cover when attacking downhill. His physicality and strength allowed him to finish through contact, while his skill and vision helped him create opportunities for others. Wagner also knocked down shots from the perimeter, showcasing a balanced offensive game that made him effective both as a scorer and a playmaker.

Groveport Madison made their deepest playoff run in decades last season and talent is still abundant in their program despite graduating a deep senior class. One of those top returners is Wagner who is a power athlete on the wing who wants to use his physicality to bully you at the point of attack. Wagner plays with pace as a ball handler and can make live dribble passes to teammates sitting on the block. Already one of the more physically advanced players in central Ohio’s 2028 class and should play a featured role for the Cruisers as they look to win a second straight district title.

Groveport Madison is a scrappy group that wants to play aggressive and physical defense. Wagner fits that style well and has the frame of a player that isn’t a rising sophomore. His playstyle fits his frame as Wagner wants to bully you with physicality and use his body to create space as a slasher. While Groveport Madison doesn’t have a ton of guys who hurt you in the half-court offensively, so Wagner and his teammates consistently run the floor to try and generate transition layups. Not many teams play as hard as Groveport Madison does at both ends and they get the ball from one end of the court to the other very quickly.
