One of the best two-way guards in the gym. Before anything else caught my attention, the ball pressure and commitment to guarding full court blew me away. Jahlil was fearless on the defensive end and made opposing ball handlers think twice about trying to put the ball on the floor. Despite his height, he showed defensive versatility by guarding some bigger wings and being effective, even when they tried posting him up.

Offensively that same effectiveness and assertiveness was in place. The ability he had to break down defenders and touch the paint was second to none. Ball handling was superb which elevated his shot creation to keep defenders off balance. Blazing first step speed and a change of direction that had defenders falling over each other all afternoon. Crafty and acrobatic finisher below the rim with either hand and also a capable shooter when off the ball.

Jenkins might come off the bench for this Westwood team, but that shouldn’t understate how important his scoring could be to this team. He is the type of player who can ignite a team with energy off the bench, plus he is a vocal player when he is on the floor. Jahlil had 11 points in a matchup with Wilson, knocking down jumpers off the bounce in the mid-range and from three while also showing some creativity around the rim with finishing and drop-off passing.

Jenkins is another Westwood and Upward Stars Columbia Guard who impressed me this weekend. He is more scoring-minded and is capable of putting the ball in the basket at all three levels. Jahlil had 13 points in the matchup, converting on a right-wing three, a pair of mid-range jumpers, and some tough finishes at the rim. When he got into the paint, Jenkins displayed a good combination of skill with acrobatic finishes as well as fundamentals with his ability to play off two.
