USE CODE “baxley30” FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

The SCBCA South Carolina Live Team Camp featured plenty of familiar names, but it also provided an opportunity to discover prospects who may not have been on everyone's radar entering the weekend. Whether they introduced themselves with a breakout performance or continued building momentum throughout the event, these players made a strong case for closer evaluation moving forward. Here are some new and under-the-radar names that caught my attention in North Augusta.

The first new name I added to the database from the SC Live Team Camp is [player_tooltip player_id='3672111' first='Dalton' last='Hodges']. Hodges caught my eye early on Saturday morning, going for 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. He used his size to be effective around the rim from the jump, earning second chances on the offensive glass, running the floor in transition, and working for positioning in the post. Dalton finished around and through contact well, and also stretched the floor with a deep face-up two. Watch out for him to be a crucial third option for the Gators this year.

I've had several people tell me Monte is a guy I need to take a look at, and he backed up the hype for the Tigers this weekend. Hamilton isn't your typical 2029 guard - he has a strong frame, is eager to defend, and doesn't need a lot of the ball to be effective on offense. This combination of traits is what will make him such an important piece for the Tigers, and it's only a foundation for him to become much more as he gets older. The lefty knocked down three jumpers against Westwood to tally 7 points, but he was much more productive defensively as he worked well to contain the ball and stayed active in help.

[player_tooltip player_id='2836137' first='Alec' last='Elkins'] had a strong showing for Lucy Beckham on Sunday. He went for 15 points on 3 threes, 2 mid-range jumpers, and a trip to the free-throw line, proving once again that he is one of the most underrated shooters in Charleston. Whether it's catching-and-shooting in the half-court, running to the corners to create spacing in transition, having actions run to get him open, or driving closeouts, Alec's shooting ability will be on display whenever you watch him.

This Colleton County prospect is one of the top under-the-radar guards in South Carolina's 2029 class. Now listed at 6'3", he's grown a little bit since I last saw him on film, but this is the first time I have seen Jair in person. Staying on the physical side of things, he will need to strengthen his frame as he gets older, but he showed flashes of skill in a matchup with Crescent in North Augusta. Doctor is a good three-point shooter in multiple situations and is improving his handle enough to attack the basket on 3+ dribbles.

Jenkins might come off the bench for this Westwood team, but that shouldn't understate how important his scoring could be to this team. He is the type of player who can ignite a team with energy off the bench, plus he is a vocal player when he is on the floor. Jahlil had 11 points in a matchup with Wilson, knocking down jumpers off the bounce in the mid-range and from three while also showing some creativity around the rim with finishing and drop-off passing.

Rounding out the group is [player_tooltip player_id='2414076' first='Tanner' last='McCray']. Plain and simple: Tanner is a good Point Guard. He might not be the flashy athlete or scorer that some of his teammates are, but he raises the floor of his team and allows those guys to be their best. McCray can knock down a three or get to the rim when the ball is swung back to him and has active hands on defense, but he's at his best starting the possession or running a pick-and-roll to set up a teammate. Tanner finished with 9 assists in Irmo's big win over Greer on Saturday.
