Expert Analysis
Andrew Baxley | Prep Hoops Scout
Tanner is the Point Guard who will run the show for Irmo. He is one of my favorite under-the-radar 2027s in the Palmetto State, simply because of how well he fits in next to the pieces that the Yellow Jackets have. McCray loves to play at a fast pace and sees passing lanes extremely well. They don’t need him to score much, but if he can add 8-10 points per game to go with 4+ assists, he will catch the eye of a college coach this year.

. Plain and simple: Tanner is a good Point Guard. He might not be the flashy athlete or scorer that some of his teammates are, but he raises the floor of his team and allows those guys to be their best. McCray can knock down a three or get to the rim when the ball is swung back to him and has active hands on defense, but he’s at his best starting the possession or running a pick-and-roll to set up a teammate. Tanner finished with 9 assists in Irmo’s big win over Greer on Saturday.
