Focusing more on the offensive side of the ball, Chase put up one of the better performances of the week in AC Flora’s win over American Leadership Academy. He took advantage of his positional size on the wing and had success shooting over defenders, driving and playing through contact around the rim, and getting out in transition. When you combine all the facets of his game with the physical tools that he has, you get a really fascinating prospect and one to monitor closely this season.

Chase is at the top of a run of bigger forwards and wings in the 80s. Bedenbaugh is definitely strong enough to play the 4 and skilled enough to play the 3, it just depends on the situation for him. Although he can stretch the floor with jumpers, when it’s time to win games you will often see Chase using his size to score around the rim and rebound misses.

The second Upward Stars’ Columbia standout is Bedenbaugh, a player who put all the pieces together to have a strong performance in a day two win. He got going in the second half of the 16U’s win over Bout A Bucket, working out of the post, from the dunker spot, and on the offensive glass. Chase had several crucial and-ones in this one, using his positional size and strength to finish through contact and a solid stroke to convert the free-throw. Bedenbaugh has the tools to continue expanding his game offensively, so as he pieces that together with a consistent motor, he could be a very good player.
