Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the premier glue guys you’ll find across the entire class, Davis stepped out from his junkyard role for a highly-productive effort to lead an opening round win. Davis imposed his will up front against a thin opposing frontcourt, banging inside to carve out position for seals or offensive boards before finishing under control amid congestion. He showed his expanding skillset as well by stepping out to knock down a corner 3. His game will never be the sexiest, but the rugged, team-first approach Davis brings to the frontcourt should be a valued commodity for scholarship-level coaches.

Davis reminds me a bit of Draymond Green with his ability to operate in the short-role but also bully defenders in the paint. The 6-foot-7 forward is quite dense and strong, which makes him difficult to move on the block. However, for his size and width, he’s incredibly light on his feet and agile, which allows him to make decisions quickly and operate as a 5-out big. The uncommitted senior might not play center or forward at the D1 level, but he could certainly play in some small-ball lineups and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has more guard skills than we’re seeing at Cushing.

Davis is a very strong human being. He’s only 6-foot-7, but he makes up for it with TONS of strength. He can bully his way under the rim against other bigs because of how compact and dense he is, and he’s got some finishing touch around the rim which allows him to figure it out amongst the trees. It’ll be tough for him to be a center at the scholarship level, but Davis is probably unique enough to find his way to a scholarship. I would also be shocked if some D1 football coaches haven’t inquired about his willingness to switch sports.

Davis does a variety of different things for his Cushing (MA) team. He provided a spark as supplementary scorer. He did a good job at the foul line. Used his stout frame to get good positioning and come up with rebounds. He also does a good job as a screener. Davis also showed flashes as a passer getting others involved. His willingness attitude is one of his best tendencies as a prospect.

Like Idada, I wouldn’t be surprised if Davis receives some football interest as well. He’s 6-foot-8 with an incredibly strong body and powerful downhill force. He’s also surprisingly light on his feet with solid footwork considering his size and frame. He holds a D1 offer from North Carolina A&T, and I could imagine more coming in soon. Feels like the leader of this talented Cushing squad.
