in the middle, but the Penguins have another name beginning to emerge nationally in the form of Blenman. A skilled inside-out frontcourt presence, he’s spent much of the year playing his way back into peak shape after missing extended time over the spring and summer with a foot injury. To that end, he should now be playing his best basketball, giving Cushing an added dimension with his ability to initiate offense from the post or operating in dribble handoffs. If he can give extended minutes as a complement to Edema in the frontcourt, it will make Cushing especially tough to beat coming in on the heels of a NEPSAC AA title.

Blenman is an incredibly intriguing long-term prospect who has some unique skills on the offensive end. The 6-foot-8 forward has an incredibly strong base—tree trunks for legs and a super strong core—which makes him impossible to move in the paint no matter what you do. He has excellent moves in the post (and uses his physicality to put opposing centers under the hoop), but he can also step out and make shots from the perimeter. Oh, and he has really solid vision for his size. Blenman is only a junior, and I’ll be very curious to see how much of an impact he has for Cushing this season, especially with Edema already playing a massive role. Definite D1 player.

Blenman, a forward out of Cushing Academy, checks in at #12 overall and #1 among the power forwards. Blenman has a wide frame that he uses to his advantage when carving out space on the low block and holding space as a defensive rebounder. On top of that, he’s a deceptive athlete that has the ability to finish plays with power at the rim and does a nice job of timing up blocks on the other side of the floor. He makes plays with a solid IQ as a passer, has the ability to operate as a grab-and-go rebounder, and can even knock down threes out of the trailer spot.

Blenman, a skilled forward, makes his first appearance in the rankings at #12 after transferring to Cushing Academy. Blenman suffered an unfortunate foot injury early in the travel season, but is a new name to watch in the region due to his combination of positional size, physicality, and skill. A first team all-state selection in New York last winter, the 6’8″ forward has wide shoulder and a solid base, both of which help him to establish position in the paint and score physically through size around the rim. He can operate as an initiator out of the high post and elbows and does a nice job of passing out of double teams. As he continues to work on his conditioning, he’ll become a more versatile defender, but right now shines with his motor on the defensive glass.
