Wheaton used his length to his advantage all tournament long, impacting the game in ways that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. He was active on the offensive glass, extending possessions and creating second chance opportunities with his reach and timing. Offensively he showed a strong feel for the game identifying mismatches and taking advantage of them with smart, controlled play. He moved well without the ball, consistently finding openings in the defense and putting himself in position to score. Wheaton’s combination of size, awareness and effort made him a tough cover and a valuable piece throughout the weekend

Wheaton was impossible to miss this weekend, bringing a big frame, strong presence and the kind of size that changes everything around the paint. He used his hands well, securing rebounds, finishing tough catches and making life difficult for defenders inside. Around the basket he showed confidence and touch, carving out space and converting through contact. What made him even more intriguing was the nice shot he flashed, showing he can step out and keep defenses honest. Wheaton played with energy, toughness and purpose all weekend long. When he was on the floor, you felt his impact every possession

. Wheaton is not a player whom we knew before the event, but kept making plays. Using his length to be disruptive defensively and scoring over smaller defenders as well. In their first game on the day I saw him go for 21 points, in the game and he filled it up. He rebounded, started the break, and made plays for others. He’s a playmaking wing who you can run the offense through. He kept the ball in motion, cuts without the ball, and is a three-level scorer who should be on more radars. He jumped on the scene with his performance.
