Playing behind college level size as an underclassman set the stage for Amous to step into a bigger role. And for the last two years, he’s thrived as an engine for a Norman team that has won a lot of ball games. They reached State last year and won the gauntlet that was Class 6A District 2.
Quick and strong off the floor, he secures rebounds in crowds. Runs the floor hard for transition points. Fight for position down low, and then finishes strongly. Type of player who can be overlooked among flashier prospects, but the production and winning do not lie.

Amos has developed into one of the more consistent players in the 405. He’s going to crash the glass, run the floor hard for “easy points” and can set up on the block and score with either hand. Good bounce allows him to get off the floor quickly, and play a bit bigger than his size of 6’6. Now attempts to dunk most plays around the rim, which also leads to him earning more trips to the line. Even though the McGuinness tournament was a weird one due to the weather for the Tigers, they’re still playing some of the best ball in Oklahoma. And Amous is a BIG reason why.

Few forwards in the 405 are having a more productive start to the year than Amous for Norman. When the Tigers raced out an early lead, it was on the back of Amous being too strong, too active and explosive around the rim. Had a highlight reel slam in transition. But most of his damage was on the offensive glass or establishing deep position and scoring strongly at the rim. Continues to be a strong target for Region 2 JuCo programs who are looking for a hardhat wearing forward, who plays bigger than his size. Had 20 and 12 on the night.

Amous can be one of the Oklahoma’s more under appreciated standouts, because there’s nothing that flashy about his game. He simply puts his head down and goes to work around the basket, staring in his role as a bruiser. Had some very big finishes and putbacks against a taller opponent from Moore. Plays bigger and stronger than his size around the rim, which will allow him to have next level opportunities.

Amous continues to be a workhorse, who knows his role and plays it to a T. Racked up powerful two handed dunks and rebounds. There were also signs of evolution to his game. Consistently hit in the mid-range and starting to develop more of a face up game and ability to attack off the dribble. Adding more finesse skills, while maintaining his physical nature has the Norman Tiger set for a huge senior season.

A workhorse prospect, Amous often is doing the dirty work around the rim with boards, blocks and non flashy buckets. But one of his dirty work plays did lead to an opportunity to show off his athleticism. He jumped a pass, raced to the other end and threw it down with authority. If the broad shouldered prospect continues to earn chances to show off his ability to play around the rim, he could become a top target prospect for regional programs.

The blue collar junior forward delievered on Friday night as he was part of a balanced Tiger attack in a win over Putnam City North. A productive forward prospect, Amous has been impressive for his rebounding and play in the paint this spring. He has some promise as a pick and roll partner, where he’s a good mix of agile movement and power at the rim. The Norman Tigers were one of the biggest teams in the state last year, while he has big shoes to fill look for Amous to make his mark in the paint for Norman this winter.
