Grant is a pure athlete out there who is starting to look comfortable as a player. To start Spring, it looked as if athleticism was leading the way, but he showcased skill this weekend where he’s reading the floor, using screens to get to his spots, and breaking defenders down in iso for baskets. He had a few blow-by finishes that showed he could score in 1-on-1 situations. Grant also gets out on the break and attacks. He’s aggressive as an off-ball guard and will be asked to be one of the team’s primary scorers yet again. Knocking down shots and finding easy baskets will be a way to ensure that, and with his work on both ends of the floor this weekend, I feel confident in seeing him as another standout in the 2029 class. Grant played well, and his effort as a two-way difference-maker is refreshing.
Russo is a player who was very productive this year on varsity and has a solid start to his high school career. He’s a player who plays with a burst that immediately changes the pace of the game. Russo is a downhill scorer with real speed; he consistently pressures defenses and shows why he already contributed at the varsity level as a freshman. We’ve seen that at one of our tournaments this Spring already, as he played his level and it wasn’t fair. Defensively, he has the tools to guard multiple spots and disrupt actions when fully engaged. You can tell the versatility from playing multiple sports translates to how naturally he moves. The upside here continues to point upward, and we have high expectations for him this year. He makes a rise in the rankings.
Russo is a game-changer for NoCo Elite. He came in and changed the game as soon as he got in, by being very active. He’s a quick athlete who moves well and uses his active hands to get some steals and out in transition. He also showed that he could score in the half-court set, and he hit a few 3-pointers that extended the lead in close games. Russo seems to know his role and sometimes steps out and goes on a run by himself. The defensive activity is what is going to separate him, as it leads to so many easy baskets, and he’s a willing defender. Liked what I saw from Grant on the weekend.
Grant is a player who we saw stand out this Fall, but his play to start the season has been a pleasant surprise. He’s emerged as a consistent combo guard who spaces the floor at a high level. He’s averaging 9.5 points while hitting two threes per game at over 40 percent. He keeps defenses honest and the offense flowing. He reads the floor well, finds shooters, and plays within the flow of the offense. He’s a player who continues to rise with his play and makes the jump in the rankings.
Russo has wasted no time making varsity impact as a freshman, playing with poise beyond his years. He’s averaging 9.3 points while shooting over 40% from deep. He spaces the floor and doesn’t force too many shots, but has no problem creating for himself off the dribble. He reads the game, jumps passing lanes, and brings constant energy. His confidence as a shooter and feel for the moment make him an unexpected X-factor and a freshman that defenses already have to respect.
Grant is a 6’0 guard that plays with a chip and what stood out at the event was his ability to score in transition. He’s a iso scorer with a quick first step, he got a few good angles at the rim and broke defenders down for finishes. He also ran the floor and moved without the ball which opened up his team’s offense. He’s a player who I wanted to see be a bit more aggressive as good things happened when he got the ball and that will come with time. I do however feel that he is impactful, and can be a solid two-way option that I feel Fort Collins will get the best out of. He’s a name to watch.
