West saw limited varsity action as a freshman at Fort Collins, but the jump he’s making this summer has been impossible to overlook. Every time he steps on the floor he looks more confident, more aggressive and more complete. Game after game he’s establishing himself as the best player on the court with a combination of size, toughness and nonstop effort. Offensively he’s impacting the game from everywhere, knocking down perimeter shots, attacking downhill and using his strength to back defenders down in the lane. He plays through contact and never seems rushed. What really separates him though is the intensity he brings defensively. He competes on every possession, pressures opponents and brings a relentless motor that changes the energy of the game. If this growth continues, West looks poised for a breakout season in a big way

West flashed a high-level skillset early in the game that had him looking like one of the most complete players in the 15U part of the tournament. He showed a solid and confident handle, he made shots, and his defensive impact turned into an electric stretch where he extended the lead by himself. He moves well and wants to get in on the action. He also created separation with his crossover and knocked down shots, while also making plays on the defensive end. When he stays aggressive, he controls the pace and flow, and now he just has to keep that switch on for the entire game. The tools are there to be a player worth knowing in this class, and now it’s about sustaining that pressure throughout the game. Huge Day 1 performance by him that leaves me intrigued.

West has shown that he’s able to make a mark in varsity games early on. As a freshman, he’s already showing that he can play with true effort and feel, and can turn that into production. The freshman plays within the flow, rebounds when the opportunity presents itself, and attacks. His recent 10-point, 6-rebound performance shows that he can find a groove. As his role expands, he will have to continue to impact the game in ways other than just scoring. I feel that he can be a player worth watching and will continue to rise in the rankings with his play. He jumps on the rankings for the first time.

handled the ball with confidence and showed the ability to attack the rim consistently. He got to his spots in the half court and created scoring opportunities with ease. More importantly, he made winning plays throughout the day.
