Chaska’s run to state included a hard fought win over Eden Prairie in the section semi-finals, and it was Chase who helped his team pull ahead as he knocked down 4 of his 6 looks from beyond the arc. The 9.5 ppg scorer has shown consistent improvements as the season has progressed, and Chase has had double figure scoring performances in six of Chaska’s last eight games.

When left open from three, you just feel so confident that his shot will connect. On Friday night he was active off the ball, setting screens and popping out to the perimeter looking for catch-and-shoot opportunities. Defenders knew he was a threat to shoot, and on one occasion Chase was able to blow by a hard closeout for a nice baseline dunk. Defensively he added in a pair of blocks and was disrupting/altering shots all game long in the win over BSM. Will be one to watch moving forward as he continues to grow into his frame.

Chase showed a lot of potential as a shooter with size at 6’6. He could stretch the floor from three, hit a turnaround jumper along the baseline, had a couple of strong finishes through contact inside, and threw down a pair of transition dunks in the game I watched. At 6’6 you never really see Chase get sped up on the ball, as he’s a composed player who makes good decisions offensively. On the defensive end he did a nice job walling up inside to protect the basket without picking up fouls. One of the more skilled forwards in the class.
