He has provided a spark on offense for the Gaels in recent months, utilizing his shooting stroke and long strides to score. Mullen also rebounds well and consistently gives strong effort on the defensive end. He’s also starting to fill out his frame more, which should help him become even more effective in the future.

Mullen has an elite skill that translates to every level and that’s his catch-and-shoot consistency out to the three-point line. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard/wing stayed true to his role at Nevada Live and provided vertical spacing for the bevy of slashing guards and wings that Gorman has on its roster. Mullen was always shot ready off the catch, has textbook shooting mechanics and his positional size and high release allowed him to get clean looks at the rim.

On defense, he always seems to be locked in, keeping his head on a swivel while tracking both his assignment and any potential cutters entering the lane. On offense, he makes himself available for corner threes and will attack downhill when the opportunity presents itself.

His IQ and shot making skills give Bishop Gorman’s offense a boost. And his pace helps him get to the free throw line where he can do even more damage. He is also a guy who stays active on the defensive end. As he can make deflections and be more disruptive than opponents anticipate.

A versatile prospect, he can score effectively both in the paint and from the perimeter. He’s also a willing passer who finds the open man when defenses get out of position. On the defensive end, Mullen uses his length and high basketball IQ to keep opponents in front of him, while also creating deflections and coming up with timely steals.

On offense, he is capable of hitting shots from the inside. And he occasionally scores in the insides as well by cutting or coming up with a board. On defense, he leverages his height and length to make his man uncomfortable.

It has now been confirmed that Canon Mullen is transferring to Bishop Gorman. I was able to watch him play during Section 7 and he impressed me with his shooting. With BG having a couple of departures themselves, Mullen should be able to crack the rotation.

Canon Mullen made his debut with the Bishop Gorman Gaels at Section 7. The tall shooting guard, got some open looks and connected. I also saw him make a solid stop on the defensive end by utilizing his long arms and reaction time. Overall, he seems like a quality player who can make an impact on both ends.

A long, rangy guard with a lethal outside shot, Cannon makes his mark as a sharpshooter. He stretches defenses with his range and uses his length effectively on the defensive end to disrupt passing lanes. While still adding muscle, he plays with good functional strength. Averaged 18.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Holds an offer from TCU.
