Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Reid was a force on the glass in North Scott’s win over Linn-Mar, pulling down 15 rebounds (4 offensive) to go with 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-7 3P, 2-2 FT). A long, bouncy wing who has really improved his athleticism over the last 18 months, he does a great job high-pointing the ball on both ends of the floor and is a good enough ball-handler and decision-maker to lead the break after pulling down a defensive rebound. He has a pure stroke from the arc and a quick release off the catch, which he pairs with good off-ball movement to get open looks from deep routinely.

A long, lanky wing who can really shoot it, Reid has done a nice job in the last year turning himself from primarily a catch-and-shoot wing into a really valuable all-around player who contributes across the board. He had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block against Assumption, showing his two-way ability. He’s a long, switchable defender who moves well and covers a lot of ground, and on the offensive end he has a lightning-quick release off the catch and plenty of range. He showed more of a willingness to pound the glass, and he has developed as a ball-handler and playmaker to the point where he can lead the break after pulling down a defensive rebound.

Reid has drastically improved his all-around game over the last 12-18 months, turning himself from a catch-and-shoot weapon into a versatile all-around threat. He’s still one of the best pure shooters out there, especially off the catch, but he has improved his ball-handling and decision-making, proving himself to be someone who can be relied upon to make the right decision with the ball in his hands. He provides some versatility on the defensive end with his length and size, and he has gotten much stronger, allowing him to not only defend bigger players, but also finish at a high clip around the rim.

Reid continues to get bigger, stronger, more athletic, and develop his all-around game. He competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor and uses his length effectively defensively, getting into passing lanes and contesting shots. Offensively, he has really improved, turning himself from a catch-and-shoot specialist into an all-around weapon. His catch-and-shoot game is still at a high level, with a high release and smooth stroke, but he has really improved his ball handling and ability to create shots for himself and his teammates. He covers a lot of ground on both ends of the floor with his long strides.

Long guard with aggression on the offense end of the floor. Likes to catch and attack off the dribble from the mid-post area. Nice shoot form when given time to let it fly. Very good on the offensive glass with nice ability to finish over smaller defenders once he rebounds. Fairly high ceiling looking forward with his ability to shoot and spread the floor with his 6’6 frame.
