Among the top young guards in the state, Pickett wasn’t quite at his best in closing out his freshman season but still displayed his impressive skillset. He has a smooth rhythm to his handle, staying composed against pressure and changing speeds effectively, hitting the gas with quick burst when needed. Pickett made smart decisions for a freshman while showing his instincts and toughness as a rebounder from the backcourt. He’ll have a chance to establish himself across the region heading into the AAU season.

Pickett added some depth as a scorer adding 15 points in the win. He fills the lane in transition. Think one of Pickett’s best skillets at the moment is his ability to rebound the basketball. Pickett showed flashes on his athleticism by playing around the rim. He really seeks out rebounds on the defensive end of the floor. He was in good places on the floor to get steals. A few things I want to see him improve on is playing off of two feet when on the attack think he can rush things into existence at times. I think if he waited a second or two he might be able to get a better shot.

Touched the game in many different ways. He was able to score from deep in addition to navigating to different spots off the dribble. Pickett showed he can also score using his runner. He finished 12 points. He has a good pulse of the game for this being his first true week of playing variety basketball in the regular season. . I want to see Pickett look to jump stop more and play off of two feet when he is getting to the rim. The Trojans will rely heavily on the freshman throughout the season.

Pickett rose to the occasion when the lights were shinning the brightest. He plays with a huge chip on his shoulder and seems to be fazed by nothing. I like the ability he has to make difficult shots. He hit several tough three pointers and was a catalyst in his teams offense. Pickett can also stop on the dime and score from spots in the mid-range. He has a good understanding of the game and was able to find teammates for scoring chances of their own frequently. Looking forward to getting the chance to cover him over the next four seasons to see his developments up close.
