had one of the best senior seasons of the decade, so far. Region 5-5A was arguably the most talented in the entire state, but BJ was clearly the best player every night as he put up 25.3 points per game on 52% field goal shooting and 43% three-point field goal shooting. Even if you took out his career-high 47-point night against Westwood in February, he probably still makes this list pretty easily.

. In Sumter’s high-level matchup with Riverside at the Poinsettia Classic, BJ flashed that potential with 38 points on 5-8 3FG. What makes Brown special is the variety of ways he can hit threes: self-created, spot-up, or even movement shots off actions. He got to 38 points because of how effectively he was using his size to play through contact and finish near the rim or get to the free-throw line, but the only negative thing you can say about BJ’s performance was that he wasn’t as efficient at the line as you would hope from a guy of his caliber.

dropped a big game at the Glymph League. BJ put up 30 points on an efficient 13-20 FG, hitting shots at all three levels. His combination of size and athleticism is a problem at this level, but when you factor in the shooting too, it is easy to see why he is a Division One player. Brown is also a good rebounder, which allows him to finish defensive possessions and clean up offensive ones.

. He is the top shooter in the Senior Class with a frame that projects some early production and a bright long-term outlook. If he continues his efficiency from the AAU Season into the High School Season, Brown will make a good push for some prestigious awards.

is next up on the list. BJ didn’t have his most efficient shooting day in the matchup with North Augusta, but he did make the shots his team needed including a go-ahead, stepback three in the final 30 seconds – his third made three on eight attempts. Brown had much more success finishing inside the paint due to the Yellow Jackets’ lack of a true rim protector, and he also cleaned up the offensive glass for more easy buckets. BJ can drive and finish with either hand and is usually strong through contact. He put up 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win.

BJ had another great game for the Gamecocks on Saturday. He is a top 10 player in SC’s Junior class and a high-volume scorer at all three levels. He came out hot in their matchup with Powdersville, putting up 11 Points in the first quarter. He was effective in using his body to create space on drives and using his size to shoot or finish above defenders. Brown did have to work through foul trouble in the game, picking up his fourth with 6:15 left in the third quarter. However, he played through it for the final minutes of the third quarter and the whole fourth quarter, putting up 29 Points and 11 Rebounds in the win.

. Brown plays for his father Bryan Brown at Sumter High School in 5A Region 5. BJ is one of the top pure shooters in South Carolina’s Junior Class. He has a sweet left-handed stroke with size to shoot over most matchups at the High School level. Brown is at his best off the catch from behind the arc or pulling up in the mid-range, but he can also facilitate the offense and create opportunities in attacking the paint. He has a good handle – particularly with a crossover to get past defenders – and is athletic too. Brown holds an offer from Francis Marion University.
