It would be understandable if it took Mathis time to get his feet under him after arriving at Perkiomen a bit into the school year this fall, but instead the Texas native has hit the ground running, leading the Panthers in scoring in each game of a perfect 3-0 start to the season. A pure lead guard attending Perk for a post-grad year, Mathis has shown the ability to thrive as both a scorer and facilitator. He’s poised attacking the paint off the dribble, with skill as a finisher and natural feel as a passer on the move. Mathis plays a smart and energetic floor game while also showing he can stretch defenses to the perimeter as a reliable 3-point shooter. He’s not quite the most dynamic as an athlete or physical presence, but his skill level and mature two-way approach should make him a popular name among D1 programs across the region this winter.
