Tarawally’s breakout weekend concluded with arguably the most impressive performance of the weekend circuit-wide as the 6-foot-4 power guard went for 41 points on a scorching 15-of-18 from the field. Simply put, Tarawally had his way all weekend long helping Premier to a 3-1 showing in Kansas City. As he showed throughout his sophomore campaign at Gwynn Park, Tarawally is a bully getting downhill and can force his way to the rim with physicality, but can also tap into more of a finesse approach where he uses euros, step-throughs, etc. to avoid rotating defenders before finishing around the cup with either hand. The most pleasing part of the weekend viewing for me was his efficiency from outside. Because of his physical traits, Tarawally has always been a downhill force, but there’s clear evidence the touch on his jumper has improved significantly with his share of triples over the three days in the Midwest. On the weekend, Tarawally averaged an alarming 26.5 points per game.

-Tarawally moved up two spots after averaging 26 ppg as the head of the snake for Gwynn Park this season. Tarawally grew an inch over the course of the season and built a stronger frame to allow him to create separation against guards or bigs in and around the paint this season to serve as an effective 3-level scorer. While he did improve the consistency of his jumper from outside the arc, he stuck with his bread and butter of playing bully ball on drives to the rim to either score or earn trips to the free throw line. He should turn some heads on the UAA circuit this season with DCP.

Abdul was a physical interior presence that imposed his will in the paint from the opening MPSSAA games. He controlled the paint with his size and consistently finished through traffic. Abdul embraced contact and converted multiple tough finishes against his opponents and made his presence felt throughout the postseason for Gwynn Park. His ability to dominate inside, finish through contact, and consistently produce around the basket made him one of the most impactful underclassmen in the postseason.

-Currently ranked at 6 in our sophomore class, there’s a decent chance that Tarawally will move up even further in our next rankings update after a marquee performance on the road. He’s an absolute pitbull with the ball in his hands, using a strong upper body to carve out space on his way to the rim or to spots in the midrange to raise up for a pull-up jumper. Tarawally was pretty dominant in transition as a scorer that also knows how to draw two and make plays for a teammate, utilizes long stride drives to the rim to throw off his defender’s timing and avoid getting his shot blocked, and is finding more opportunities to hit the glass for easy putbacks before the defense can react. Tarawally also did a great job of coming off of ball screens tight and keeping his defender on his hip/in jail behind him to create advantage opportunities for high percentage looks. One of the best players in the county as a sophomore.

Tarawally is one of the more put together scorers and overall prospects in PG County despite being just a sophomore. His positional size at 6’3″-6’4″ and his ability to pose as a threat from multiple levels makes him a tough matchup and often times, requires double-teams to contain. Through 11 games, Tarawally is averaging a sturdy 25.1 points per outing and has Gywnn Park sitting with an 11-2 overall record. His presence is felt on both sides of the ball as he also snags 5.5 rebounds and records 2.2 stocks (steals + blocks) with ability to generate quick points off those steals or turnovers in thunderous fashion above the rim.

-Our scouts have liked what we’ve seen from Tarawally this season as a 3-level scorer that can create for himself at a pretty high level. The sophomore guard is leading his team in scoring at close to 24 ppg and was just named PG County Player of the Week with several scoring outbursts in league play. Love his ability to create in the halfcourt with or without a ball screen, his improved motor at the defensive end of the floor has been key for a young Yellow Jackets team that needs consistent play from their top guys.

Abdul was a bright spot in a tough game for Gwynn Park. He and his team showed some heart and grit that I was glad to see in a rugged environment. Got to the middle of the zone and broke the defense multiple times through the game. Was a tough cover for the opponent because of how well he utilized his size advantage and got to the spots he wanted. Dully got to the basket and was fouled all through the game, putting up a high amount of free throws all night.

Abdul is a smooth operator at the guard spot. Contains great size and control already as a young guard and has a lot of experience under his belt to date. This season will be his second and Dully is looking to really make a name for himself not only in his county, but across the state. I expect Abdul will see a jump in his scoring average this season as more will be expected of him. He can score at all three levels, and his size gives him an advantage over a lot of his matchups. Learning how to read the floor and make plays when the defense reacts, but overall looking like a strong prospect coming out of Maryland in the coming years. Has a true knack for scoring the ball that should only improve in levels and efficiency.

-If there’s one thing that Tarawally knows how to do and at a high level–it’s how to get buckets. The smooth 3-level scorer plays with a ton of craft in the paint, showing a deep set of scoring moves in the halfcourt but also displaying a real knack for earning trips to the free throw line to finish with efficient scoring outputs. Tarawally understands pace coming off of ball screens and usually is able to catch his matchup off guard with up fakes, spin moves, stepbacks, or retreat dribbles to free himself up for an open look at the rim.

-Tarawally has used a productive spring and summer on the UAA circuit to make a name for himself as a consistent scoring guard that can do a ton of damage both on or off the ball. Tarawally excels at creating open space for jumpers by coming off of screens ready to lift up for a jumper but he can also create pull-up jumpers for himself off the bounce on an island. Love the way that he uses his frame to carve out space on his drives to the rim as he is typically able to bully his defender off-balance to create easier looks for himself. Using those paint touches and scoring gravity to his advantage as a passer in the halfcourt will be crucial to his continued ascension.
