Sunflower: Day 1 Top Performers (15U)

<p>Kansas City, Kan. — The opening day of the 2019 Sunflower Showcase on Friday at token Fieldhouse with a host of players raising their profile the 15U pool play.</p> <p>Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who raised their profile with strong performances on Friday.</p> <p><b>29 — Kortez Stevenson, 6'6, F, 2022, KC Center, Team KC Black</b><span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>@Kortez_30 (pictured)</p> <p>Stevenon has a unique inside-out game and can score the ball in a variety of ways. He showed off his all-around game on Friday, showing terrific hands, footwork and scoring touch in the paint, as well as the ability to step out and play on the perimeter. He has a smooth left handed shooting stroke to the mid-range, and handle it, pass it and attack the basket out of the high post. He's an intriguing player who performed well this weekend in Kansas City.</p> <p><b>8 — De'Waun Norton, 6'5, F, 2022, KC Central, Team KC Black 15</b></p> <p>A strong, physical inside-out type who can shoot from the outside a little, put the ball on the floor and score in the post. Norton put together a strong performance on Friday against KC Run GMC 15Us, handling the ball some in the backcourt, working hard in the paint and getting on the glass for his team. He is poised for a breakout sophomore season at Kansas City Central.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><b>2 — Taj Manning, 6'6, F, 2022, Grandview, KC Run GMC 15U.</b> @Taj9Manning</p> <p>A standout as a freshman for Grandview last season, Manning was mostly a work horse in the paint who focused on helping his high school team by doing the little things. But he has taken his game to new heights this spring and summer, showing the ability to play on the perimeter, handle the ball and also score in the paint as well. He has a developing perimeter shot and with his athleticism could easily develop into a wing player in the future.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><b>20-Keyon Spiller, 6'4, F, 2023, Center High School, Drive 5</b></p> <p>An athletic forward who brings size and bounce to the floor. He can handle it some but he moves best with the ball in his hands. He looks to screen the ball and makes cuts and crashes the boards for a roll and basket or to clean up plays,</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><b>33 — Max Wheeler, 6'6, F, 2022, Lee's Summit <span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span></b><b>KC Run GMC 15U</b></p> <p>Also a standout tight end on the football field, Whisner is an athletic forward who runs the floor exceptionally well and works hard in the paint at both ends of the floor. He can play above the rim, finishes plays exceptionally well in the paint and is a tough, physical post defender and rebounder.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
