Morton is no stranger to the state tournament after leading George Rogers Clark last year to a state title and it showed. He was more than comfortable Thursday night pouring in 19 points playing all 36 minutes. This was the best I have seen him shoot going 50% from 3pt range. This opened up the game for him to drive. Huge night for him.

The 2022 State Tournament MVP has had another really good season for GRC and will likely get on the court at Morehead a lot next season. Jerone is a tough lefty guard who can score the ball all over and is at his best when he’s got the ball in his hands and attacks the rim.

Morton put on a show for his future college coach that was in attendance from Morehead State scoring 23 points and grabbing 9 boards. He had a quiet first half but came out in the second aggressive. He was relentless getting to his left hand and scoring at the rim. He used his strength to power thru the defense. He had a dunk in transition that put the game out of reach. Morton proved he belongs at the top of the list as one of the best players in the state. He will look to lead his team back to Rupp and contend for a second straight state title.

The reigning state tournament MVP, Jerone is a high level scorer and a big time competitor who will do whatever his team needs to get a win. Morton is committed to Morehead State and should be an absolute steal at that level.

Jerone is the reigning KHSAA State MVP and will return with his sights set on going back to back with both the state title and the MVP trophy. The lefty is outstanding off the bounce and a good enough shooter to keep defenses honest.
