This was a coming-out party for Patrick. He's shown flashes for the past two years, enough to make a significant jump in the rankings, and he has his moments where he looks unstoppable, but this was the longest that we saw him sustain that level of dominance. We watched 4-5 Creek games at the event, and he was a big reason why they won the whole thing. Kayden's shot was on as he hit multiple 3-pointers in each game, he knocked down mid-range jumpers, and he also had a few spin baseline vertical dunks that no other player in the state is making. He challenged himself defensively, demanded the ball a bit more than we're used to seeing, and made the best of the increased usage. We heard that he was having a pretty solid start to the Spring, and it was good to see an assertive and dominant Kayden. He picked up an offer after the weekend. Wait until he realizes just how good he could be.

Proctor was in a role this weekend where he was the focal point of the offense, and he had to be the creator on the team; he excelled in that role. He was coming off screens and attacking. He was stepping off of that and shooting the 3-ball, and he also couldn't be contained in iso situations. Proctor gets to where he wants on the floor and is one of the few guards who gets to the mid-range and consistently hits it. He also finishes well around the rim, and when the defense takes something away, he counters by going to something else. Proctor also had some dump-offs where he found the open man for easy baskets, and he is going to be in a huge role where he has to contribute. I'm expecting a big Summer from him in preparation for a big season as well. Solid outing, and he's riding the momentum of a huge start to the Spring.

Spann plays with a chip on his shoulder, and he's chippy. That edge puts him as one of the better young two-way standouts in the state, and with as much as T-Ridge lost from a season ago, he should step into being one of the lead guards. He looks more comfortable each time that we see him, and with the increase in usage as well as just trust in his offense, he's been taking over. At the Metro State camp, Dash made big play after big play. He was attacking mismatches, getting out on the break, and finishing, and also consistently hitting the 3-ball. He had a few solo runs where he pushed the lead for ThunderRidge by just punishing guys in the paint. He has solid size, he plays with energy and hard the entire time, and has the green light for T-Ridge, it appears. Big day for him and a big season ahead.

Shepherd is a player who just looks like he's playing a different game than everyone else when I watch him play. When everything else seems out of control and sped up, it never does for him. He was the team's leading scorer last year, but this season he is going to have a bit more attention on him as South will have to look for more scoring options around him. While seeing the teams send doubles and throw different looks at him, he constantly got to the mid-range shot and shot over defenders. He had a game where he finished with 25+ points against a good team; he had a few dump-offs for dunks and finishes at the rim, and he controlled the pace while he was out there. Brody is shooting the 3-ball, and the control and awareness separate him. I was already big on Brody heading into the event, but it might've grown a bit more after his showing at Metro State camp. Now it's about being that way each night out.

Collier is a bucket, and he gets it in every way. His game has evolved from just deep shots and punishing teams from beyond the arc to a more well-rounded game. He's shooting the deep ball, he's hitting the floater, he's using his speed on blow-by's, and when East has momentum, seeing him and Adkins take turns going off is such a fun ride. He had a couple of those moments this weekend where he just took over in games. He attacks off the dribble, he's hitting step-backs, and he's so difficult to slow down with a head of steam as he's so shifty. Collier led East in scoring in the games that I watched. He came up with a few steals and was overwhelming for teams. He's been in a groove to start the Spring in our events, and he picked up right where he left off at Metro State camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='2048131' first='Jacob' last='David'] stole the show on the first day of the event. He came into the camp with a buzz after he had picked up some Division I offers to start the Spring. The 3-point shot was on and in the game of the weekend, a close win against Creek; he had some tough iso baskets. He had step-backs, deep 3's, and a ton of iso work. He was attacking off the dribble into his shot, and they shuffled through a couple of guys to try to slow him down. He then had some solid games after that, where he showed that he could score with the best of them. The next step in his game is consistently playing with that chip. I feel as if he goes into certain games or moments ready to prove a point, proves it, and then relaxes. If we got that killer mentality and wanting to show who the top guy is in the gym each night out, he could contend as the top player in the state. Nonetheless, his high's at Metro State camp was head and shoulders above everyone else's, and I feel that he was one of MVP's of the event.
