Prospect Spotlight: Miki Tadic (2019)
Stashed up in Allen, Kentucky are several college prospects and 2019 shooter Miki Tadic is one of them. Wesley Christian has been a solid prep program for the last couple of seasons. Most of their players have international roots and Tadic is no different. Miki hails from the Netherlands. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and has a 26 on his ACT and will take college courses this season at Wesley. As impressive as Tadic is in the classroom, he is hoping to impress college coaches even more with his play on the court. I recently caught up with Miki to discuss his game, his recruitment and his hopes for his senior season at Wesley Christian.
PHKY: Describe your game for people who may never have seen you play. What are your strengths? What do you need to improve?
MT: I have a high IQ which translates into a good feel for the game. I shoot the ball at a high volume and percentage. I find my spots in the offense very well to be an efficient scorer. But also try to use my gravity and passing to open up opportunities for my teammates. I will have to work hard on my ball handling and finishing this off season and that would bring my game to another level. And i also want to improve on my strengths.
PHKY: Reflect on your high school season. Were you happy with your individual performance? Were you happy with your team results?
MT: My high school season started with some adversities. The transition from European ball to American ball was difficult. The game (in America) was a lot more physical. But after a couple games I found myself in the starting lineup. I had some good games in the Grind Session Circuit, earning the ‘Under The Radar player of the week’. We had a pretty good season overall and I had my fair share of moments where I knocked down big shots. But even against lesser competition I would have to elevate my game even more to eliminate those types of losses next year to hopefully compete for a National Championship.
PHKY: Who are you playing AAU with? How is your season going so far?
MT: I am playing with Coach Stallworth with Manimal Elite. I have a good feeling about this AAU season. I have learned a lot from the tough competition. I feel that as a team we should do the little things better. If we do that we can compete with anybody.
PHKY: What schools are recruiting you? Any offers? If you have offers, do you have a leader right now?
MT: I’m currently being recruited by Marshall, UT-Martin and Morehead State. No offers.
PHKY: What can you take from your AAU season and apply to your next high school season?
MT: The intensity level is really different. This summer I will also be competing in the European U18 Championship. I need to really bring that ‘Dog’ out during those games.
PHKY: What are your goals for your next high school season?
MT: Improving my game so that I can showcase my stock better to obtain better offers. Also providing the leadership skills on the court and in the classroom. Our goal is to win a National Championship.
Miki is going to be a large part of any success that Wesley Christian enjoys in the 2018-19 season. Already a plus shooter, he’s becoming a better distributor and defender. With the high academics Tadic possesses, there should be a lot of high academic schools recruiting him. With the skills he possesses there are likely to be a lot of schools at every level recruiting him. As Miki progresses through his Senior season, keep an eye on just how high his ceiling can be as a basketball player. He’s likely to end up at the division 1 level by this time next year.
