We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. It's built on the guys who do the dirty work, set the tone, and keep the team steady when things get chaotic. The engines for their team. The pairs that impact winning in ways numbers can't explain. Here are the top glue guy duos in the City League.

Rangeview has been a contender for the past few years, so adding a guard to the mix and not disrupting what they have going is a tall feat. Conrad has fit in seamlessly and is also a weapon that they use on opposing teams. He's quick nd explosive and a bit of a live wire. Some games call for him to score the basketball, and others just to provide a spark, and he's done that. He pressures opposing guards, turns them over by speeding them up, and uses his speed to his advantage. Rangeview has units that best fit his play-style, and that only adds to their strength. He's a glue guy for them.

Davenport was the JV team's best player a season ago, and now with him earning more minutes, he's doing all of the things that a coach needs to see more time on the court. He plays with effort and energy the entire time that he's on the floor. He applies full-court pressure, uses his length to be disruptive, and also is a downhill attacker. He's a versatile combo guard who has had his moments and has swung momentum at times. Stats do not tell it all with hi,m but he's been a player who keeps Rangeview afloat.

I truly believe that Jack could be the Patriots' most valuable player. He's the team's primary ball handler, and he handles pressure with composure. On the season, he's filled it up as he's averaging 8.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds a game. The thing is, he seems to be better with better competition. Jack steps up in big games and brings it on both ends of the floor. He's the calm to this team, and he's the floor general. He's the team's connector and could be the difference in whether they go far or not.

Taylor has been such an improved piece for the Patriots, and he's the man in the middle for GW. He's averaging 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds a game and is the man in the middle. He and [player_tooltip player_id='1577472' first='Jack' last='Young'] have a connection when they're on the floor together, and they feed off of each other. He is also a hard worker who competes on the glass and uses his length and athleticism to his advantage. When Taylor is playing well, he raises the Patriots' floor immensely, and now it is about finding that constant. He's the gauge for this team and his play tells you how deep this team can make it. He's the ultimate glue guy who's starring in his role.

Alexander is a constant for this East team, and he's a player who feeds off momentum. He is also organized chaos and is trying to make plays happen. He rebounds hard, steps up and hits big shots, and he also scores with the best of them. This lefty cannot be denied getting to his spots, and also steps up on the other end of the floor as well. He's a 6'2 versatile prospect who can defend and play multiple positions, and now that he's been called upon, he's made the most of those minutes. He's up to 8.6 points and 5.7 rebounds a game right now and is a glue guy for the team. He will never be asked to be the leading scorer or to run the offense, but he is the glue that keeps it together. We've liked what we've seen from this poised junior.

Edwards is really starting to come into his own, and the team is in a really good stretch as we finish up league play. He's coming off a career-best 22-point performance against Vista Peak, and we've been seeing him start to show these glimpses since league play began. He rebounds and has stepped into the big man role. He runs the floor, finishes in traffic, and uses this motor to outwork opponents, and that is progress from the beginning of the season. East has built some chemistry, and Landon has been a glue guy who has kept the team going. Solid season for him, and he's now firmly on our radar.
