As the days pass, the basketball gets more and more important. In South Carolina High School Basketball, this week is the final week of the regular season before the playoffs start next Monday. That means that Region Championships, playoff seeding, and tiebreakers must all be decided over the next six days. Take a look at a preview of five matchups on Monday and Tuesday that have Region-Championship Implications:

Riverside @ Dorman (Monday, 7:30)

In terms of title contenders and teams that are capable of a deep playoff run, there aren't many better than AAAAA Region 2. It was greatly affected by two weeks of winter weather, giving us a loaded slate down the stretch. One such game is Monday night's matchup between Riverside and Dorman. Dorman won at Riverside in the first region game back in December, but since that night, the Warriors have won 17 of their last 18, including 13 in a row. The Cavaliers have stumbled on a couple of occasions in region play, sitting at 8-3 and 3rd in the region, so it is a must-win for their championship chances on their home floor. Riverside is even with Byrnes at 10-1, but they have a home head-to-head win and a game in hand against the Runnin' Rebels later this week.

Crestwood @ Wilson (Monday, 7:30)

This was a game postponed by inclement weather a week ago, but it is a highly anticipated matchup in Class 4A Region 5. Crestwood has been a little bit of a surprise this season, considering all that they lost a year ago. However, they are one of just two South Carolina teams that have beaten Wilson in 2025-26. It was an off night on many accounts for the Tigers in the first matchup, but since then Crestwood has continued to prove that win wasn't just a fluke. They could become one of the first teams in the state to 20 wins with a win on Monday, while fully turning the heads of those outside the Sumter/Pee Dee Area. However, now playing at home, some of the role players could step up to provide [player_tooltip player_id='1486211' first='Josh' last='Leonard'] with enough help for Wilson pull out a crucial region win.

Central @ Andrew Jackson (Monday, 8:00)

Class 2A Region 4 could be decided tonight. 10-0 Central High School travels to 9-1 Andrew Jackson High School with a January overtime win over the Volunteers and only one game remaining on the region schedule for each team. The Eagles were able to overcome a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double from [player_tooltip player_id='1487224' first='Zeke' last='Clyburn'] thanks to double-figure scoring from Demetrius Myers, [player_tooltip player_id='2445000' first='Jordan' last='Crowder'], [player_tooltip player_id='2616381' first='Tazhir' last='Webber'], Scoot Colyer, and [player_tooltip player_id='2709020' first='Jakari' last='Holloman'] - and well-rounded performances have been their strength all season long. It should be a really fun one between two State-Championship contenders in Kershaw on Monday night, so if you're in the area, go check it out!

T.L. Hanna @ Greenville (Tuesday, 7:45)

AAAAA Region 1 was one of the most affected by the recent snowstorms, but despite there being three games remaining, it is still likely to come down to the second matchup between T.L. Hanna and Greenville. The Red Raiders won the first matchup 85-73 in Anderson, getting 25 points on 4 3PM from [player_tooltip player_id='2027918' first='Tucker' last='Scholl']. The Yellow Jackets had put together a streak of really good basketball around the play of [player_tooltip player_id='1578642' first='Lucas' last='Wiersma'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2405568' first='Brice' last='Wiersma'], but now, coming off a bad loss to Easley on Friday night, there is a sense of desperation for this squad. It is not winner-take-all in Downtown Greenville, because of the scorching hot Hillcrest Rams, but a win for Greenville would put them in the drivers' seat, while a win for Hanna would make things quite interesting going into the back-to-back.

Westside @ Laurens (Tuesday, 7:30)

It's no secret the 4A Upper State Championship is up for grabs, so not only is this matchup a Region-Championship decider, but it could also be a preview of the Upper State Championship. Laurens topped Westside in Anderson back on January 20th, thanks to big games from RJ Brewster-Snow and [player_tooltip player_id='2024465' first='Zakarion' last='Simpson']. The Raiders also had success holding down the dynamic backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='2550966' first='Jonovan' last='Webb'] and [player_tooltip player_id='3230815' first='Dee' last='Davis'], but those two will certainly get back up for the return fixture. Region 1 is easily a two-horse race, with 3rd-place Fountain Inn trailing by a mile. Westside will have a home matchup with Wren remaining, while Laurens has contests with Southside and Emerald remaining, but with both teams holding just one region loss, Tuesday's game means a whole lot.
