2019 Top SF’s
With the 2019 rankings release, we’re taking a look at the top-4 small forwards for the junior class. Prep Hoops Colorado takes an in-depth look at each player, says what makes them special and what the state tournament holds for them.
1) Jaedon Bowles-Manual-Overall Class Rank #4
Due to the fact that he’s playing in 3A there’s been a bit of uncertainty when it comes to Jaedon, but make no mistake about it, he’s as real deal as they come. If he were to play in 4A or 5A, I’d expect the same type of success, yes there would be a dip off in production, but he’d still be one of the top players in the state. With his play these last few seasons he’s proved that he’s as versatile as any other player with his size on the state and his career average of 21.5 pts, 2.7ast, 6.9rebs and 1.2stls a game with over 1300 points already has him on the track to continue having one of the best careers and highest ceilings of anybody in the class.
2) Joel Scott-Lewis Palmer-Overall Class Rank #9
Joel is the best player on one of the best 4A teams in the state and has his team in the position to win it all with their upcoming Final 4 appearance. On the season, Joel has been torching defenses as he’s shooting a career high 64% from the field and in an increased role has made it look easy. He’s up to 19 points, 7.4 rebounds a game and has taken over in the playoffs which will surely see his stock rise. He’s a player that shown he can get it done down low and has caused mismatches each game and is a special player that just keeps progressing. He’ll most likely end up in the top-5 by the time the season starts.
3) Avery Rembao-Loveland-Overall Class Rank #14
Loveland had one of the worst seasons in school history as they went a dreadful 2-21 on the season and couldn’t manage to win a single league game. The one bright spot on the team was Avery as he led the team in every major category and competed despite his team going in almost every single game as an underdog. With another year under his built and the hope of having some additional help to put more wins on the board, he’ll come into next season with a sense of urgency to prove that this year was a fluke for Loveland. He’ll be a player to watch this grassroots season and should be one of the best players in the league come next year.
4) Darien Meyers-Palmer-Overall Class Rank #16
Darien was the clear-cut leader for Palmer this season as he did everything he could, but coach. He scored in double digits in all but four games and showed that he’s one of the most reliable players in the state. He’ll head into next season wanting to put Palmer back in the spot to win games and with a more experienced bunch they should find some success. He’s a versatile wing with the ability to open up the court by cutting to the lane or knocking it down from beyond the arc and his continued work on his craft makes him a special player that many should look at.
