Fossil Ridge will be a team with size again as they have very solid pieces around one of the best front court duos in the state. They have depth, they’re in a good system and all that they’re missing is reliable guard play. Well, they have a few players that I feel steps up for them this year and Marquez is one of them. He’s quick, shifty and a pass first guard who teammates run faster for as they know they’ll be rewarded. This summer he showed that you can surround him with good players and he’ll make them better. He’s a solid entry passer, he blows by defenders for layups and competes on both ends. I expect him to get varsity minutes and prove to be one of the top guards in the class. He’s a riser. 

Marquez hasn’t been on our radar as frequently since last year, but his performance left a lasting impression and made it clear he belongs in the conversation as a rising prospect. He showed the qualities you want from a point guard, pushing the pace, seeing the floor and consistently finding teammates for quality looks. He also proved capable of creating offense and scoring when opportunities presented themselves. More importantly Marquez played with a team first approach and consistently made those around him better. We’re excited to see where his game goes next and how much he can continue to grow

Marquez is a true floor general, and that is something that you do not see too often. He controls tempo, facilitates the offense, and takes pride in locking down his assignment. He’s a tenacious defender who’s aggressive, takes on the challenge, and does not back down to any matchup. Offensively, he spaces the floor with consistent perimeter shooting and mid-range touch. With a deep roster at Fossil Ridge, Marquez’s IQ, leadership, and ability to elevate teammates will make this a strong developmental year for him but a player that I feel deserves some attention that we did not want to miss out on having in the rankings.
