About Gavin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a 6'5 wing who can stretch the floor. I am a strong finisher around the rim and use my athleticism to my advantage in many scenarios. I have developed a solid 3-point shot and can comfortably play outside for shooting and playing off the dribble. Defensively, I am very quick for my size and can use my athleticism to guard players who are bigger and smaller than me.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a vocal leader on the floor and make sure my voice can be heard in every gym. I take pride in defense and make sure that it is a focus in every scenario. At practice, I am a very hard worker and try to make sure everyone is involved so basketball can be fun for everyone, like it is for me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was on the 9th-grade A Honor Roll at my school. I am also in the 10th-grade A Honor Roll this year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been to Feed My Starving Children multiple times over the past couple of years. This has helped me build leadership qualities as well as the grace to give back to others.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Just before my freshman year, I broke my wrist in a fall league basketball game. I had to get 2 surgeries, and this was a major setback at the time. I am fortunate that I was able to make a quick recovery and play in most of my freshman season. I learned a lot about myself as a person, and as a player in the 2 months stretch I had to take off the game.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that can support me academically and in basketball. I would prefer to stay within the Midwest, but am open to any opportunities that may come.
