South Dakota 2028 Rankings Update: High Talent, High Upside

In this article:
The updated South Dakota 2028 rankings are now live on the site!
With this update, we ranked the top 40 2028 prospects and left the rest on a watchlist until we know more about the class.
The South Dakota 2028 class is the best and deepest South Dakota class I've scouted in my time with Prep Hoops Dakotas. The class consists of proven talent and high-upside talent. If I'm a D1, or especially a D2 coach, I'm locking in on this class and really targeting some of the key prospects. There's many to choose from that have D2/high-end NAIA outlooks. It's not quite clear yet on who will emerge as the top 3-5 prospects, and I expect a continuous shuffle the next couple years until the youngsters reach more maturity and we can see what their final frames and size profiles pan out to be. Because how these younger prospects grow physically will outright determine their final placement on the rankings board.
The class consists of varsity performers, like newly-ranked #1 prospect,

are oozing with high-level potential — developing to become impact varsity players and legitimate high-end prospects.
In this class, you have sure-thing prospects, those with immense upside, and those that have both high floor and high ceilings. There's everything you need in this class when it comes to having legitimate prospects in multiple positions and position classes. You have your long upside wings, lead guards, wing three-point threats, guards that can lockdown defensively, and the Bigs are high-upside and deep in this class. There are some very exciting new additions to the class, with a 6'8” Big that debuts in the top 10.
