Way Too Early Mr. Basketball Watchlist
24-25 Record: DNP varsity in ND 24-25 Stats: No stats in ND *Hooped in Utah but came back...
What has been the biggest focus for you personally this season?
“Have fun and finish on a high note. As well as make up for a lost season.“
What’s one area of your game you’ve seen the most improvement in?
“My post-game has been better, still not where I want it.“
What does your team do well when you’re playing your best basketball?
“”They defend hard. Constantly hold teams to 20-30% FG.“
Who’s a teammate that deserves more recognition?
“Tied between two in Ethen Zimmerman and Brody Magnuson. Brody has improved a ton offensively and is always trying to make the smart play. Ethen Zimmerman has improved so much overall as a basketball player and he’s constantly guarding the best player on the other team.“
How do you stay locked in during the grind of the season—especially on tough weeks?
“I make sure to keep myself reminded of who I do it for and how short the time I have left in my high school career.“
What’s something your coaches emphasize that really shows up on game nights?
“Defense and rebounding. We are constantly winning the rebounding battle.“
What’s the biggest lesson basketball has taught you?
“There’s gonna be ups and downs throughout anything and you have to be willing to push through with what you have. As well as you can’t do everything yourself, accept help from those around you.“
What has been your favorite moment of the season so far?
“Winning a close game versus Velva while winning the rebounding battle by 30.“
Favorite gym to play in (besides home)?
“Our Redeemers’ gym because of the atmosphere and the super nice floor.“
What are you hoping to accomplish before postseason play begins?
“I want to get each of the starters on my team a 15+ point game.“
Mr. Hanson is kinda a BIG deal. If you say the name “Sage” around basketball fans, everyone knows who you are talking about. Very few players in North Dakota have that sort of star power. The TGU baller is committed to the Fighting Hawks. Sage will put up crazy numbers this season and go out with a bang. If anyone is getting nominated for Mr. Basketball in Class B, Sage has to be at the top of the list. Get ready for the future UND baller to put on a show in 2025-26.
