Recruiting Report: Andre Sepeda (2019)
Greeley West point guard Andre Sepeda is s top 30 prospect in Colorado and a player that shined with Colorado Chaos.
“The highlight of my 16u year was winning the Top of the Rockies tournament and playing against good teams like the Las Vegas Prospects and Earl Watson Elite UAA team,” Andre said.
“I feel my game improved a lot over the four months. It helped me slow the game and play and not always trying go 100 miles per hour all the time and it help come a smarter guard.
“And I also became a better leader because when your playing those good teams and your the point guard you have to lead to even have a chance to win against those teams.”
Taking those lessons learned from the 16 and Under season how is Andre preparing for his junior year?
“Just trying go right a lot more and just keep working on my off hand and just becoming more explosive and trying to get my vertical up,” Sepeda said.
A year ago Greeley West was 9-15 on the season but Andre was a bright spot wit his 14.6 points, 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals a contest.
“I think we have a shot at the league title and just trying to compete in the playoffs and try to get a playoff win or two,” Sepeda stated. “And we have a lot coming back are whole team is juniors so we should be able compete with good teams this year.”
Andre, who already has 48 varsity games to his name, has to shoulder a lot of the playmaking load talking nearly a dozen shots a game but always knocking down shots at 40 plus percent.
What are his goals for this all important junior year?
“Try to win player of the year on conference and get a playoff win and win the league title,” Andre told Prep Hoops.
A few programs have began calling the now junior with two calling the most.
“The schools I’m hearing from are University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Chadron State. I haven’t set up or taken visits yet.”
Sepeda likes several players at the pro level including a pair of hard working PGs.
“Well when I was young I really liked Carmelo Anthony and he was my favorite and just made like watching basketball but now it’s Isaiah Thomas and Damian because those two had to work so hard to get to where there at today and I just admire that about them and I try to emulate my game like Isaiah because we’re both small.”
