Byrnes Defeats Mauldin HS 65-55
The Rebels and the Mavericks had already played twice during the season with the Rebels prevailing both times. The Mavericks were certainly not backing away here today at the Florence Center. The Rebels led 28-27 at the halftime break. The Rebels would outscore the Mavericks 11-2 in the final 3:49 of the game to advance to the State Championship.
Braden Hershberger Braden Hershberger 6'3" | CG Mauldin | 2024 State SC playing in his final game for the Mavericks finished with 15 points. Braden played aggressive all night long with his ability to attack the cup. Alvarez Smith Alvarez Smith 6'2" | SF Mauldin | 2026 SC really plays the game with a true position on the floor. Smith was in the right place at times tonight to make some plays on the glass. Alvarez finished with 9 points. Owen Stewart Owen Stewart 6'5" | SG Mauldin | 2024 State SC and Nathan Wilbourne Nathan Wilbourne 6'2" | PG Mauldin | 2026 State SC both finished with 8 points a piece in the game.
Will Fowler Will Fowler 6'1" | PG Byrnes | 2024 State SC was constantly making plays all night long for the Rebels. Fowler would finish with 27 points in the win. Will lived at the free throw line and getting the ball to the basket. Junior forward Evan Enos Evan Enos 6'8" | PF Byrnes | 2025 State SC finished with 13 points while teammate and freshman point guard Colt Fowler Colt Fowler 5'6" | PG Byrnes | 2027 State SC added 13 points also in the win. Colt plays well past his years with his maturity on the floor and finding the open man. All these players took charges today and made sacrifices on their bodies for the Rebels.
Lexington HS 56 Defeats Summerville HS 48
The Wildcats inch closer to a State Championship in Class 5A. Lexington HS hasn’t won a state championship since 2000 – 24 years ago. The Wildcats lost in the State Championship back in 2012. Lexington has yet to lose to anyone in the state this season after defeating the Green Wave for the second time this year tonight.
Jaxon Prunty Jaxon Prunty 6'6" | SF Lexington | 2024 State SC and Kaleb Evans Kaleb Evans 6'3" | CG Lexington | 2025 State #243 Nation SC both led the way with 13 points apiece in the win. Senior Cameron Scott Cameron Scott 6'6" | SG Lexington | 2024 State #23 Nation SC scored 10 points while Caleb Campbell Caleb Campbell 6'8" | PF Lexington | 2024 State SC added 8 points in the win. The Wildcats move to (28-2) on the season.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead and never looked back all night long.
Yannick Smith Yannick Smith 6'3" | SG Summerville | 2024 State SC finished his career in a Green Wave uniform with 28 points. Smith is headed off to East Carolina University to play football next season. Melvin Teal Jr Melvin Teal Jr 6'3" | PG Summerville | 2025 State #301 Nation SC . a junior finished with 9 points tonight in the loss. The Green Wave finish the season at (25-3) on the year.
