. Wilbourne was at his best in Mauldin’s semifinal against Fort Mill, efficiently putting the basket to the tune of 30 points on 3-6 3FG. He was able to use his size to finish through contact around the rim and shoot over defenders off the bounce. Nate also impressed me with his passing in this one, frequently making the correct read against varying pick-and-roll coverages. When he is hitting shots and making good decisions, like he did yesterday, Wilbourne is one of the best senior guards in the state.

Wilbourne had a great day shooting the ball in Duncan. I got to watch the Mavs in both of their games on Thursday, but in game one Wilbourne was particularly hot from behind the arc. He knocked down six threes and they came from all across the floor both off the dribble and off the catch. Nathan’s ability to finish in the paint and set up teammates is what kept defenders off balance, as he could often use hesitations or crossovers to create space or get past his man. His size is also a factor, as he can shoot over or post up most guard matchups.

. The Mavs caught fire late last year making it to the Upper State Championship, giving its underclassmen like Wilbourne crucial big game experience. Nathan averaged 9.5 Points Per Game and 2.2 Assists Per Game in 2023-24. He has good length for a Guard, capable of seeing over defenses, shooting over contests, and finishing around tall rim protectors. Wilbourne is unselfish in attack mode and is a consistent shooter from behind the arc. Nathan holds offers from East Carolina and Coastal Carolina.

Wilbourne is running with Big Shots Elite North Carolina 2026. Nathan really sees the floor well from out top. He was able to set up his teammates on several occasions here today with his crisp passes and reads.
Nathan played aggressive all day looking to attack at times from the top of the key. He was able to score a handful of points when called on by Head Coach Whit Holcomb-Faye.

If you were just watching Mauldin for the first time, you wouldn’t be able to tell Nate is a Sophomore. The offense truly runs through him with few hiccups throughout the course of the game. He also displays his knowledge of when to facilitate and when to score, another rare quality for a young guard. In the Mavericks’ Second Round Playoff Win over River Bluff on Saturday, Wilbourne facilitated in the first half and scored in the second half, finishing with 16 points and 6 assists.

Wilbourne is an impressive Guard prospect for the Mavericks. He had another strong performance at the Prep Hoops SC Showcase against fellow 5A Opponent Clover. Nate does a great job of running the Mauldin offense, making reads, facilitating to teammates, and scoring when needed. He also has good size and is an active defender. He had 15 points for the Mavericks on Saturday.

Wilbourne played good minutes this past season for the Mavericks at the varsity level. Nathan plays well beyond his years at time with his feel for the game. He has no problem playing with some swagger and confidence on the court.
Nathan can play guard position at times for the Mavericks in the backcourt. Wilbourne already has garnered interest from NCAA Division 1 schools despite being just a freshman.
