Throughout the next few days, myself and Jeremy Brooks will be running through some of the standout performers from the event, and providing full evaluations of every player in attendance. This article will take a look at each player from Team 12.
Ward was one of the fastest players in the gym going end-to-end with the ball in his hands. On multiple occasions he was able to pull down a defensive rebound and take it coast-to-coast for finishes. He has a quick first step that he uses to blow by defenders in the halfcourt, and he showed good ball handling and court vision throughout the evening. His jumper is still a work in progress, but he’s able to put pressure on opposing defenses with his speed. He has quick hands on the defensive end as well.
The sophomore guard from Des Moines Christian showed the ability to play with and without the ball in his hands. He looks to attack hard against aggressive closeouts, getting into the teeth of the defense and showing good court vision, finding open cutters after the defense has collapsed. He also has a nice floater game that he uses to finish over bigger defenders. He has a quick release off the catch and range out to the arc.
Another skilled and long 6-3 wing from this team, Hoskins is a really good defender both on and off the ball, getting into passing lanes and moving his feet and making the opposing ball handler work hard to get anything going against him. He does a good job getting the defender on his hip when he’s attacking the rim and he shields the ball well. He showed good body control around the rim and is able to finish at a high level with either hand.

O’Brien was a new name for me and he made an impact as a shooter throughout the evening. A 6-5 wing who can get to his spots, especially within the mid-range area, he has the size to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants to. He has good footwork that he uses to create some additional space, plays under control, and has a quick release on his jumper. He looks like an impact player at Lisbon for the next two years.
Kimbrough was really impressive in both games of Team 12 that I caught, showing the ability to score from all three levels as well as make plays for his teammates. He’s a strong 6-1 guard who has a really good feel for the game and is able to bully his way to the rim or pull up from 25 feet and knock down shots with ease. He rebounds really well on both ends of the floor and is able to put the ball on the floor and finish through contact.
