Five Standout 2028s from the Kennedy Shootout

Kueter is a supremely confident shooting threat who can bury shots from seemingly anywhere inside halfcourt for the Defenders. He'll pair with senior-to-be [player_tooltip player_id='2828832' first='Taegin' last='Smith'] to give Marquette arguably the best one-two punch of shooters in the state. But he's not just a shooter. He impressed with his work on the defensive end, showing the ability to defend several different spots on the floor, rotate well, and contest shots at a high level. He's a high IQ two-way player who understands his role and looks primed to have a sensational junior year for a team that may finally get over the hump in Class 1A.     Gary played well on both ends of the floor in the half that we got to see the Trojans play against Wahlert Catholic. He looks like a much more confident shooting threat, especially off the catch, where his release has gotten quicker and smoother. He buried back-to-back 3s off the catch and then used that to attack off the dribble against an overly aggressive closeout. He's a really good athlete in the backcourt who applies a lot of on-ball pressure defensively.     VanArsdale provided the highlight play of the day that I saw with his baseline drive and thunderous dunk against Wahlert Catholic. He followed that up by making a nice defensive play and getting out ahead of the pack in transition for a layup. He's an intriguing athlete on the wing with a nice blend of size, length, and athleticism.     One of the most confident scorers in the gym on Sunday, Meskimen is a streaky, but at times electric, shooting threat. He's capable of pulling up from anywhere, and once he sees a few go in, good luck slowing him down. He gets into his shot in the blink of an eye off the dribble and has advanced handles that he uses to help create a tiny bit of space to get his shot off. He does a nice job utilizing the threat of his jumper to open up the rest of his offensive arsenal, attacking off the dribble and either scoring over bigger defenders with a nice floater, or finding open teammates.     Chase is a long, athletic guard who handles it well and showcased really good footwork on his jumpers, particularly getting into stepback looks off the bounce. He has a high release on his shot and is able to get to his spots off the dribble, and when you pair that high release with his advanced footwork, he does a nice job creating additional space. He's a good athlete who can get out in transition and do some damage, and his length is a major asset on the defensive end.
