Throughout the next few days, myself and Jeremy Brooks will be running through some of the standout performers from the event, and providing full evaluations of all 64 players who were in attendance. This article will take a look at each player from Team 3.
Dexter Brunscheen
Dexter Brunscheen
Brunscheen is small, listed at 5-7, but he’s a tough guard who doesn’t shy away from contact and isn’t afraid to stick his nose in on the glass. He’s a good shooter off the catch who also showed the ability to attack hard closeouts and get to the rim for finishes. He makes up for his lack of size by being a creative finisher, knowing how to put the right spin on the ball to finish against bigger players. When he’s getting his teammates involved, he does a great job passing the ball into their shooting pockets, allowing them to quickly get a shot off.
Eli Boerschel
Eli Boerschel
Another small but tough guard, Boerschel is an active defender with quick hands and feet that he uses to make life difficult for opposing ball handlers. He’ll compete on the glass on both ends of the floor, is a good passer with great court vision, and he can really shoot it off the catch.
Hayden Schulte Hayden Schulte 6'0" | PG Indianola | 2027 IA
Hayden Schulte Hayden Schulte 6'0" | PG Indianola | 2027 IA
Schulte was a standout for Indianola when we saw them play in Winterset back in June, and he played well again on Sunday, especially on the defensive end. He’s a quick guard with good length and quick hands that he uses to pick opposing ball handlers or jump passing lanes and turn defense into offense. He finishes well around the bucket and has great body control. He can put the ball on the floor and create opportunities for his teammates as well.
Griffin Glynn Griffin Glynn 5'10" | SG Kuemper Catholic | 2027 IA
Griffin Glynn Griffin Glynn 5'10" | SG Kuemper Catholic | 2027 IA
Glynn is a pure shooter, especially off the catch, who does a great job using off-ball screens and constant movement to lose his defender and find open spaces to get his shot off. He has a smooth, repeatable release, and he gets the ball into his shooting pocket quickly, both off the dribble and the catch. He showed some secondary playmaking ability as well, taking advantage of hard closeouts to get into the teeth of the defense and either finding an open teammate or finishing at the rim.
Lucas Helgeland
Lucas Helgeland
Helgeland was a standout on the glass and on the defensive end, using his long wingspan to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor as well as contest shots at a high clip. He didn’t get a ton of opportunities on the offensive end, but he does a good job keeping the ball high when he pulls down an offensive rebound and going straight back up with it. He did a lot of little things – setting good screens, hedging ball screens, keeping the ball moving – that don’t usually happen in these types of settings, which is encouraging.
Tillman Papcun Tillman Papcun 6'2" | SF Norwalk | 2027 IA
Tillman Papcun Tillman Papcun 6'2" | SF Norwalk | 2027 IA
A rangy 6-0 wing who uses his length effectively on the defensive end, Papcun stood out with his defensive versatility and effort on that end of the floor. He showed that he can defend quicker players on the perimeter or bump down into the paint and bang against bigger players. He does a great job getting into passing lanes and turning defense into offense, and he gets a hand up to contest shots. He competes on the glass on both ends of the floor, and on the offensive end he showed that he can put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket or shoot it off the catch following good off-ball movement.
