The lead guard for NE Iowa Hustlers 15U, Oscar Cole made everything happen for his team over the weekend. A combo guard that directed traffic, created shots for others and himself, possessed the best handle amongst his teammates, flew in from the perimeter for rebounds, dove after loose balls and more, Cole was the tone-setter for the Hustlers over the weekend.

Cole, who was getting down hill enough to force his opponent into zone defense, was still able to get two feet in the paint to attack the defense, beating them with a floater himself or forcing the defense to collapse and dish out a pass for a three-pointer.

The recipient of a few of those passes was [player_tooltip player_id='3548482' first='Landon' last='Roberts'], a three-and-D wing for the Hustlers out of Wapsie Valley. With long arms and a quick trigger from three, Roberts, was a sniper from the corner.

Catching a corner three was a knockdown opportunity for the Hustlers with Roberts was an automatic triple. With a high release that made his shot difficult to deflect or get a hand on, Roberts was a tough off-ball guard. He caught passes on in-bounds plays, as well as from Cole when the defense dropped to help, making opponents pay for sagging off of him.

One of a few bigger interior players for Advance's White team, [player_tooltip player_id='2828843' first='Brody' last='Conmey'] was in complete control around the rim. Able to score with smooth foot work and post moves that gave him space to finish on layups, Conmey handled the rock well, and if he continues to grow, could be an automatic bucket around the rim for Advanced and Anamosa.

With a strong handle of the ball, too, he could put the ball on the deck and use an upfake to get his defender off their feet and finish at the cup.

The state leader amongst juniors in blocked shots in Iowa this sason (67), [player_tooltip player_id='2390460' first='Gavin' last='Halbach']'s size and length jumped out immediately when he stepped on the floor for the eventual high school tournament champions, the [program_tooltip program_id='3025295' first='Iowa' last='Frost'].

Using his size and length to deter shots at the rim, keep opposing teams out of the paint and force uncomfortable attempts around the basket, Halbach is a smalltown center that knows how to use his size. One of the more physically imposing players in Hiawatha because of how much space he takes up on the floor, Halbach will be a senior to watch this coming winter for Northwood-Kensett.

On a team mixed with players shorter than Halbach, Karvin Hesse was forced to play on the interior for the Hustlers when the matched up with the Frost.

Holding his own the best he could despite the size disadvantage, Hesse showed some good things against a player at least several inches taller than him. With a nice head fake, step through and floater for the finish on one possession, Hesse showed a mixture of footwork and IQ that were encouraging for the future of his high school basketball career.
