Updated 2019 Rankings: Point Guards, Part II
We recently updated the new rankings for the Class of 2019, a group we believe has the chance to be really special in Colorado from top to bottom.
Over the next couple weeks, we will be taking closer look at the class by position. We continue today with the second of a two-part look at the point guards in the class:
Davon Walker, 5-8, Douglas County. 2019 Overall Rank: 26.
Walker is a true point guard who already has two seasons guiding a varsity program as floor general on his resume. He has strong ball skills, can handle it in pressure and is quick enough to cause problems with his penetration. Walker’s high IQ game makes him an intriguing small-college prospect.
Andre Sepeda, 5-8, Greely West. 2019 Overall Rank: 30.
What you love about Sepeda is the bulldog toughness he plays with. Greeley West coach Brett Cloepfil remarked to us the summer before Sepeda began his freshman season that his tenacity would make him player to watch. Sepeda averaged an impressive 14.6 points and 3.8 assists per game as a sophomore, showing he’s a player who can absolutely lead a team.
Christian Davis, 5-11, Mullen. 2019 Overall Rank: 31.
Davis is a lanky guard who has the ability to heat up in a hurry from long range. He’s got a smooth shooting stroke and can pull up from mid-range with consistency. Davis has really taken a big step in his game this spring, showing noted improvements on defense, and could be on the move as he prepares for his junior season.
Dylan James, 5-10, Cherokee Trail. 2019 Overall Rank: 43.
James’ game is all about speed. A lightning-quick running back for the Cherokee Trail football team, James also has the ability to get down the floor in the hurry with the basketball in his hands. He may choose football, but James has intriguing talent as a guard.
Skye Ciccarelli, 5-11, Woodland Park. 2019 Overall Rank: 47.
The numbers for the Woodland Park guard in two years of varsity action have been hard to ignore. Ciccarelli has averaged 16.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and two steals per game for the Panthers. Skye is a smart, active guard who simply knows how to put the ball in the bucket.
TJ Boykins, 5-6, Douglas County. 2019 Overall Rank: 49.
Boykins has continued to make great strides. He’s got a strong feel for the game and made a nice impact for the Huskies as a sophomore, averaging six points and two assists per game. He has played a strong role this spring for a Boykins Academy team that has performed well.
Carter Keil, 6-0, Sterling. 2019 Overall Rank: 50.
Keil already has a state championship on his resume. He averaged 10.5 points as a sophomore while leading Sterling to the 3A state championship. He had 12 points, many of them in crunch time, during the thrilling 49-48 comeback win over Faith Christian that earned the title. He’s a smart, heady player who makes winning plays.
