Myles Montgomery Myles Montgomery 5'9" | PG Minford | 2025 State OH , 5’10 PG Minford 2025: Montgomery is a sniper and will be one of the top players in southeast Ohio as a sophomore next season. Montgomery was knocking down 3’s from well beyond the 3-point line and his high arching shot is usually on target even when he misses. Montgomery has also improved physically since my last viewing, but he is a smaller framed guard. Montgomery will need to stay in the weight room and try and add muscle to be better equipped to defend guards at higher levels of grassroots basketball. I’d expect big numbers from Montgomery for a Minford squad that will compete for a district title next season.
Isaac Clary Isaac Clary 6'8" | C Gallia Academy | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C Gallia Academy 2023: Clary will not be a basketball prospect at the next level, but he was so dominant that I figured he needed to be included in this article. Clary has improved his back to the basket game, now capable of going over either shoulder. Clary is a Division I offensive linemen recruit, but I think Clary would be a scholarship prospect on the basketball court as well. Clary and Cole Rhett Cole Rhett 6'7" | C Bishop Watterson | 2023 State OH share a lot of similarities on both the gridiron and the hardwood.
Dallas Tucker Dallas Tucker 5'11" | PG Westerville Central | 2024 State OH , 5’11 PG Westerville Central 2024: Tucker was one of a few Westerville Central guards who stood out. Tucker was using his dribble drive game to get into the paint and finish off two feet. Tucker was also creating open looks for sharpshooters Devin Martin Devin Martin 6'1" | PG Westerville Central | 2024 State OH and Nick Patton Nick Patton 6'2" | SG Loyola Academy | 2024 IL . Tucker himself also showed that he’s capable of making it rain from downtown as well. With this junior backcourt trio, Westerville Central is much improved in 2022-23.
Michael Walker Michael Walker 5'10" | CG Columbus DeSales | 2024 OH , 5’10 CG Columbus DeSales 2024: Walker had a solid weekend, making the right play offensive often for his squad. Walker knocks down open shots, moves well without the ball in his hands and makes smart reads. Walker probably won’t dominate a game with his scoring and is a smaller framed guard with athletic limitations, but his IQ makes him a productive high school player and potential small college prospect.
Gavin Toombs Gavin Toombs 6'5" | PF Fredericktown | 2026 State OH , 6’4 PF Marengo Highland 2026: Toombs had an impressive weekend, especially when you consider he’s an incoming freshman. Toombs has a bigger frame and used his lower body weight to move defenders around the basket. Toombs also showed off some ball handling ability and made a couple jumpers throughout the weekend. Toombs looks like a very intriguing small school prospect who you’ll be hearing about more in the next couple years.
