This was a great chance to see how some of the 2025 prospects will fit in with their varsity teams, and these are eight of those freshmen who stood out. Keep in mind that there were no rosters, so there is a chance I missed a few other freshmen that I was unaware of.
Clevon Easton Clevon Easton 6'0" | CG Madison East | 2025 WI Jr. (6’4 2025 G, Madison East)- At least at this early stage, any conversation about the best 2025 in the state will have to include Clevon’s name. It was the first time watching him play live since the AAU season, and I was impressed with how his jumper’s coming along. When I saw him in the spring defenders were able to sag off as he wasn’t a three point threat, while yesterday against Whitnall the freshman hit two long jumpers including one contested off the bounce. He was his normal self always in attack-mode with his shifty handle and body control around the basket. Clevon is extremely tough to keep out of the paint even playing against mostly older players, and he’s a tough finisher who also shows some promising passing vision.
Juan Guerrero Hernandez Jr. (6’ 2025 G, Grafton)- Juan is listed at 6’ but has a long frame that allowed him to make some plays on the defensive end. He showed nice instincts to jump passing lanes to pick up steals, as well as to jump in and disrupt opponents when they tried to attack the basket. Offensively he’s a deep threat beyond the arc, but is unselfish and willing to pass up a good shot to get his teammate a better one. A high IQ player with a really strong skill-set as a freshman.
Myles Herro Myles Herro 6'2" | PG Whitnall | 2025 State #237 Nation WI (5’10 2025 PG, Whitnall)- Myles got the start in all three of Whitnall’s games, and although he isn’t a big scoring threat yet I thought he handled the ball well under pressure. He makes smart decisions and is able to put the ball in dangerous places with his passing. Knew when to push the tempo and when to slow things down to get into a set. Plays with a nice change of pace that allows him to get to his spots off the dribble, and has a knack for delivering a flashy pass.
Elijah Griffin Elijah Griffin 6'1" | PG Westosha Central | 2025 State #352 Nation WI (5’10 2025 PG, Westosha Central)- Elijah saw time off the bench in the second half against Whitnall, and instantly made an impact knocking down two jumpers. He has a ton of confidence in his shot, and a lightning quick release that allows him to get off a look with just a few inches of space. That quick release helps to make up for the size difference going against older competition.
Kai Rogers Kai Rogers 6'10" | C Wauwatosa West | 2025 State #41 Nation WI (6’10 2025 C, Wauwatosa West)- Tosa West was rotating in a lot of guys so Kai wasn’t always playing huge minutes, but he’s proving to be a major presence down low as a freshman. Even without the ball he was seeing double teams down low, as teams did everything they could to prevent him from touching it on the block. He was able to draw a lot of fouls on the block, and score when he was left isolated in a 1v1. When rebounding he snatches the ball out of the air, and he also does a nice job of tipping the ball out after a teammate misses a shot to keep possessions alive. Kai also had one of the best dunks of the day, securing an offensive rebound and then instantly elevating to throw down over a defender.
Andrew Rader (6’8 2025 PF/C, Green Bay Notre Dame)- Andrew saw time off the bench for Notre Dame, and there’s a lot to like about his potential. He moves well for his size at 6’8+, which bodes well for his defensive potential moving forward. Also impressed by stretching the floor and knocking down a three against Racine Case. The freshman showed he isn’t afraid to compete with some physicality as well.
Jake Hansen Jake Hansen 6'1" | SG Wauwatosa West | 2025 State #331 Nation WI (5’9 2025 G, Wauwatosa West)- The Tosa West freshman provides an additional shooting threat for a team featuring plenty of fire power. Excels at moving without the ball and running off screens before quickly squaring his feet and firing off a shot that falls at a high percentage. Jake also impressed with his ability and confidence to take one or two dribbles into space and pull-up for a mid-range jumper.
Zach Kinziger (5’11 2025 G, De Pere)- When older brother John graduates, Fox River Classic teams are going to have another Kinziger to deal with. Zach is a skilled and composed player who looks ready to play a solid role for one of the top Division 1 teams in the state. Highly skilled with his handle and passing ability, and he also showcased some range beyond the arc which forced defenders to step out and guard him tight. Zach made smart decisions with the ball and looked unfazed playing at the varsity level.
