Jack Campion Jack Campion 5'10" | PG Milton | 2022 State WI – 2022 – PG – Wisconsin Playground Club
I’ll keep saying it, mid-major programs are sleeping on this kid. Do yourselves a favor and go get the film of his performance against Dallas Showtyme. Campion absolutely carved up some really good athletes en route to 16 points and a handful of assists. The 5-foot-10 guard is as quick as it gets and can stop on a dime and score the basketball. His size shouldn’t worry people. He can finish at top end speed with either hand, extend the floor as a long range shooter, and defend the heck out of people. A high motor guard that’s nearly impossible to stay in front of, Campion has the type of skillset that kills at the mid-major level and leads to upsets in the NCAA Tournament.
Colin Hardrick Colin Hardrick 6'3" | CG Wauwatosa West | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Hardrick had a solid showing against Team Breakdown. He got PGC a lot of easy buckets and put together a strong fourth quarter in a tight ball game. What I appreciate about Hardrick is he knows how to score and knows his skillset — doesn’t try and do anything he’s not capable, but sticks to what works for him. You’re not gonna see him overdribbling or taking a ton of 3’s. Hardrick is a smooth pull-up mid-range shooter and a bouncy finisher around the rim. If it’s not there, he’s getting rid of the ball and cutting hard. Hardrick plans to reclassify to 2023 as he won’t turn 16 until August. He holds a Division 1 offer from Grambling State.
Braden Huff Braden Huff 6'11" | PF Glenbard West | 2022 State #58 Nation IL – 2022 – F – Illinois Wolves
Huff had his hands full with a very strong and athletic Team Thrill front line. Thought the 6-foot-10 big man really held his own and played some good stretches of basketball. Huff had two key triples late to push the Illinois Wolves to a win. Huff is a very exciting prospect. He hasn’t arrived yet, but Huff is oozing with potential and it’s easy to see coming. Despite his size, Huff can handle the ball and play low to the ground. He brings the ball up the floor and initiates the offense at times. Huff can step out and shoot the ball in the pick n’ pop game and also do some things 1-on-1 on the block. Think he also passes and makes decisions from the high post really well. Defensively, he can switch out onto guards on the perimeter if needed. He might be a little lanky, but Huff isn’t soft on the glass and as a rebounder. After a year or two in a college strength and conditioning program, believe Huff will take off as a player.
Jaquan Johnson Jaquan Johnson 5'10" | PG Pius XI | 2024 State WI – 2024 – PG – Wisconsin Playground Club
Getting a little tired of talking about this kid, but he just never seems to be satisfied with being average and always stands out. The Pius XI lead guard is a cheat code. Every time it looks as if the defense has Johnson bottled up, he finds a way out of trouble. At 5-foot-9, Johnson has a blend of speed and power on the ball. He’ll take over as a scorer or facilitator. Johnson can score from anywhere on the floor and put the ball in the hold at top-end speed. He’s a kid that just loves when the game is in his hands and dominated the ball pretty much the entire fourth quarter in a win over Pro One. Entering his sophomore year, Johnson already holds three mid-major scholarship offers.
Cal Klesmit Cal Klesmit 6'2" | CG Neenah | 2023 State #235 Nation WI – 2023 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Klesmit picked a pretty good time to show out as Iowa, Marquette, and Wisconsin were all watching as well as a ton of mid-major programs. The Neenah guard dropped 24 points, including 22 in the final three quarters during a win. With his team trailing in the second quarter, Kelsmit just went off against Team Breakdown, hitting five-straight 3’s at one point. Klesmit is the type of guard that can get in a zone where a 25-foot 3-pointer feels like a layup. Klesmit also relishes when defenders try and get up in his shorts and shut him down. He welcomes contact and doesn’t need to stand out on the perimeter all game to be effective. Needs to cut down on his turnovers, but Klesmit is certainly a player who can load up on quality Division 1 offers over the next two years given his killer instinct scoring mentality and in-the-gym range shooting ability.
Steven Kramer Steven Kramer 6'5" | SG Johnston | 2022 State IA – 2022 – G/W – Kingdom Hoops
Good mid-major prospect here. Kramer is a 6-foot-5 wing with some intriguing isolation scoring ability. Kramer uses his size really well once he gets into the paint and can’t get all the way to the rim, able to back defenders down and shoot over the top. Also a bouncy, explosive athlete, Kramer can make plays above the rim on both ends of the floor. He’s got a little point wing in him his well, often bringing the ball up the floor and initiating the offense. South Dakota is the lone Division 1 offer for Kramer at this time.
Arterio Morris Arterio Morris 6'4" | PG Dallas Kimball | 2022 State #16 Nation TX – 2022 – G – Dallas Showtyme
This kid is the real deal. Despite a 1-point loss to Wisconsin Playground Club, the opposition had no answer for Morris, who nearly led Dallas Showtyme to an improbable comeback win. Morris is extremely explosive on the ball for a strong, 6-foot-4 wing. He gets low to the ground and just leaves defenders in the dust. Morris can mix it up as a perimeter shooter or slasher. He drilled triple after triple in the second half, putting Showtyme on his back. Also a big time athlete, if Morris gets a foot in the paint, it’s over. As good of a scorer as he is, Morris doesn’t have tunnel vision. When he puts the ball down, he’s feeling the help-side defenders and found a number of open teammates for rhythm jumpers on Thursday. A consensus top 35 prospect nationally, Morris is considering the likes of Kansas, Texas, Memphis, Texas Tech, Oregon, Texas A&M, and TCU.
Simeon Murchison Simeon Murchison 6'9" | PF Milwaukee Bay View | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PF – Wisconsin Playmakers
In a class full of high-upside bigs, Murchison is still holding down one of the top spots among that group. The 6-foot-9 sophomore is a strong, powerful finisher around the rim with a high motor. While he’s still very raw skills-wise, Murchison doesn’t shy away from contact and finish through people. Defensively, Murchison is a terrific weak-side shot blocker. He also showed some pretty impressive defensive versatility, able to defend in space and move his feet on the perimeter.
Maximus Nelson Maximus Nelson 6'7" | PF Appleton North | 2022 State #236 Nation WI – 2022 – PF – Wisconsin Playground Club
Nelson got hot in the second half and scored 18 points in a win over Dallas Showtyme. The 6-foot-8 forward has the sweetest stroke you’re going to see from a big man. Nelson can kill teams in the pick n’ pop game and also sprints the floor and hunts transition 3’s. Also a guy that’s developing a face-up game in the mid-range, Nelson has shown flashes of being able to isolate and score 12-14 feet from the rim. He’ll catch people by surprise athletically as well, not afraid to take the ball hard and finish above the rim. Nelson is a solid mid-major prospect with offers from UW-Green Bay, North Dakota State, Toledo, UW-Milwaukee, and SIUE.
Jaden Schutt – 2022 – SG – Illinois Wolves
Schutt had two strong outings on Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard will be classified as a sniper, but he’s so much more. Schutt is going to get his job done defensively, make plays for others, rebound from the guard position, and make impact plays defensively. Obviously, the shooting is what is bringing in the scholarships. Schutt is so fluid coming off screens and can get right into his shooting motion. He reads defenders and screens very well, making the opposition pay when they cheat or overhelp. Also a plus athlete, Schutt isn’t afraid to attack the rim hard and shook off some big hits at the rim.
Greg Spate – 2023 – W – Team Breakdown
Surprised there’s not more collegiate attention coming this kid’s way. Spate is an intriguing 6-foot-6 wing/guard that can play a variety of positions. He handles the ball a ton for Team Breakdown and is a decision maker for that squad. He can take guys off the bounce and create a look for himself or a teammate. Spate is also well-rounded and kind of does a little bit of everything on the floor. Thought he was very solid against Wisconsin Playground Club and was a couple of close misses from distance away from having a really big game.
Asa Thomas Asa Thomas 6'6" | SF Lake Forest | 2023 State #91 Nation IL – 2023 – SF – Illinois Wolves
Thomas dropped 27 points in Thursday night’s win over NE6. The 6-foot-5 wing as a blistering 7-of-10 from the 3-point lane and hit some big triples late to push the Wolves to a victory. This kid can just absolutely shoot the rock and looks like one of the best snipers in the country. If you go under a screen or don’t close with a hand up, it’s already too late, Thomas is going to burn you. Really like the way Thomas frees himself in screens, setting a quick one before flaring out to the perimeter. Thomas also has some skill on the ball and creates some matchup problems off the dribble or in the post. He’ll be a highly sought after prospect in Big Ten country over the next year.
