Many players have shown enough simply on tape and colleges are watching now more than ever as they navigate these untested waters.
Here is a look at some of the summer stock risers from Florida in the 2023 class.
Matthew Bewley & Ryan Bewley | 6-9 | West Oaks/Team Breakdown
On Monday, a quartet of Oakland Park Northeast players transferred to West Oaks placing them in the hands of their AAU coach Kenny Gillion of Team Breakdown. Along with 2021 guard duo Wesley Cardet and Jameon Harris Jameon Harris 6'5" | CG West Oaks | 2021 State FL , 2023 twin forwards Matthew Bewley and Ryan Bewley transferred over to the Orlando SIAA school. The Bewley twins both stand at 6-9 and our ranked 5th and 10th respectively in our 2023 National Rankings. The likes of FSU, UF, USF, Alabama, Iowa State, Illinois, DePaul, Auburn and St. John’s have offered already. Both players are polished ballhandlers, gifted shooters, floor stretchers and have endless length. The Bewley twins are going to work hard on both ends of the floor and before you know it will be McDonald’s All-American candidates. Pencil it in.
Jasone Jackson Jasone Jackson 6'3" | SG Sarasota Riverview | 2023 FL | 6-3 | Sarasota Riverview/E1T1
It has come full circle for Jackson. I first saw him at The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo last fall in Daytona. The Sarasota Riverview guard really shined against the talent there including the older classes. I tracked his progress during his high school team’s fall workouts and during the season he impressed often. Built like a football player, he has endless athleticism, burst and strength to score all over the floor. He holds an offer from Virginia Tech and should really come into his own this season.
John Gamble John Gamble 6'4" | SG Charlotte | 2023 FL | 6-4 | Charlotte/Team Parsons
Perhaps one of the most intriguing prospects in any class here in Florida is Gamble. He has raw skills that are just waiting to come out during game action. He is a long jumper with a nice mix of ballhandling, attacking and a quick shot a release. Gamble should really shine this season alongside 2021 counterpart Tre Carroll Tre Carroll 6'7" | PF Charlotte | 2021 State #225 Nation FL , a true Division I wing. Gamble holds offers from Ole Miss, Stetson and Mississippi Valley State so far.
Dylan James Dylan James 6'8" | SF The Rock | 2023 State #48 Nation FL | 6-8 | The Rock/Team Speights
Following in the footsteps of his older brother Dorian who is at UNF, Dylan James Dylan James 6'8" | SF The Rock | 2023 State #48 Nation FL has the looks of a legitimate Division I forward. He had bright moments this past season at Winter Haven but opted to transfer to The Rock earlier this summer. He needs to continue to improve his mid-range touch, but he is a dangerous player as a shot-blocker. James is going to fill out his frame and he will continue to further his game.
Jalen Debose Jalen Debose 6'1" | CG Windermere | 2023 State FL | 6-1 | Windermere/E1T1
A high IQ and super athletic guard, Debose was rock solid as a freshman at West Orange. He has been a steady performer this summer with a gifted E1T1 group and will be tasked to run his offense. He officially transferred to Windermere this week where he is part of a young and deep unit. Debose is someone who flashes often and can make plays simply on his own as a driver and gifted passer.
