Many players have shown enough simply on tape and colleges are watching now more than ever as they navigate these untested waters.
Here is a look at some of the summer stock risers from Florida.
Tre Carroll Tre Carroll 6'7" | PF Charlotte | 2021 State #225 Nation FL | 6-8 | Charlotte/Team Parsons
One of the biggest risers in Florida and at the forward position around the country, Carroll is highly versatile at his size. Finishing in a variety of ways at the cup is his top skill and his mix of length and pure speed really helps him get by defenders and score in flurries. Carroll is a valuable player as a shooter and he can handle the ball at times and out on the wing, he will continue to be a true threat. East Tennessee State, Stetson, USF, FAU, FGCU, Santa Clara and UT Chattoonoga have all offered. More schools need to get on him pronto before it is too late. His ceiling is high.
Kanye Jones Kanye Jones 6'4" | CG Windermere | 2021 State FL | 6-4 | Windermere/Team Parsons
It has been a highly successful summer for Jones. He settled in nicely a season ago at Windermere after making the move over from First Academy. The highly skilled shooter has earned a plethora of offers from Division I programs as of late including Buffalo, Drexel, Loyola Chicago, James Madison, College of Charleston, FIU, Stetson and others. Jones has a nice mix of speed and pure athletic ability. If he can get stronger, he will only be that much better.
Jameon Harris Jameon Harris 6'5" | CG West Oaks | 2021 State FL | 6-4 | Northeast/Team Breakdown
Any college that is searching for a hard working two-way guard, then looking no further than Harris. He is always active on both ends of the floor and is a very sound point guard and leader. Vocal as they come, Harris leads by example and really matured this past season down at Oakland Park Northeast after playing previously at West Oaks. He is a very down to earth kid who simply loves the game and competition. Harris holds offers from Samford, Ole Miss and Stetson and should garner more interest later this fall.
Donovan Draper Donovan Draper 6'6" | PF Forrest Hill | 2021 State FL | 6-5 | Forest Hill/Team Parsons
It is hard to believe that Draper has yet to earn a scholarship offer. There aren’t many hybrid-type players like him in the state and he is not only quick, long and very jumpy, but he has all the tools to expand his game. A core rebounder who is basically a double double nightly at Forest Hill, Draper is a heck of an athlete who will make the program that takes him in look very smart at the end of the day.
Zyhir Sims Zyhir Sims 6'3" | CG Fletcher | 2021 State FL | 6-2 | Fletcher/Star Ready Athletes
At Neptune Beach Fletcher, Sims is a legitimate talent. He proved that this summer at Prep Hoops events in Georgia and Inside Exposure events in Jacksonville. He’s the true definition of a shooting guard and he isn’t afraid to nail a 3-pointer or mid-range right in your face. He had a monster junior season and will continue to raise his stock as a senior. He holds an offer from Albany State and interest from a slew of Division I programs. Sims is taller than he appears, plays endlessly hard and fast in transition. He simply gets the job done. If he can add more strength, he will be well on his way.
