Many players have shown enough simply on tape and colleges are watching now more than ever as they navigate these untested waters.
Here is a look at some of the summer stock risers from Florida in the 2022 class.
Ernest Udeh Ernest Udeh 6'10" | C Dr. Phillips | 2022 State #48 Nation FL | 6-9 | Dr. Phillips
Last season was a breakout one for Udeh. The long and athletic big man from Orlando Dr. Phillips is a bonafide shot blocker and defender who continues to be a consistent threat on that side of the ball. Offensively, he is expanding his game and his wingspan is dangerous on both ends of the floor. He has upside as a finisher inside and his shot is improving two-fold. FAU and Stetson offered in June as well as USF previously. Udeh’s arrow is pointing up quickly.
Tre’ Donaldson Tre’ Donaldson 6'1" | PG Florida State University School (FL) | 2022 State #146 Nation FL | 6-1 | Florida High/The Skill Factory
A top football athlete with a plethora of high major offers, Donaldson is a fast and confident point guard who has had a nice summer with The Skill Factory. Alabama, UF and Nebraska have all offered for basketball. A dangerous shooter and finesse attacker, Donaldson can really mix it up and he isn’t afraid to back down from anyone. He was playing with poise as a sophomore at Tallahassee Florida High and I expect him to take that to another level during his junior campaign.
Riley Kugel Riley Kugel 6'5" | CG Dr. Phillips | 2022 State #208 Nation FL | 6-5 | Dr. Phillips/Team Parsons
Making the switch from Central Florida Christian to Dr. Phillips this summer, Kugel is part of a deep junior class there (two other athletes mentioned above and below). He is a very talented point guard who can also move around to various spots on the floor, offensively and defensively. Kugel is a very good shooter who likes to play hard and with endless energy. Being more vocal and adding some muscle will help further his game at his new school. Kugel has offers out from Middle Tennessee State, FAU, Stetson and UNF.
Brenen Lorient Brenen Lorient 6'8" | PF Calvary Christian | 2022 State FL | 6-8 | Forest/Team Florida
A key contributor at Ocala Forest, Lorient is certainly going to improve further as a junior. He has gotten stronger, faster and more athletic this summer and it is paying dividends. With Team Florida, he stood out on film all weekend long at the Hoop Seen Atlanta Jam for the 16U squad. Lorient is a player Division I schools are finally getting to see and he should be a clear-cut riser this season and beyond. He is simply a workhorse on defense and he is very powerful offensively as a finisher and skilled power forward.
Denzel Aberdeen Denzel Aberdeen 6'4" | PG Dr. Phillips | 2022 State #197 Nation FL | 6-4 | Dr. Phillips/Team Parsons
Perhaps one of the best shooters in the entire 2022 class, Aberdeen is very difficult to contain. His outside jumper is fluid, quick and reliable. He has grown in height and his game is maturing in terms of leadership, pace and floor awareness. Aberdeen holds an offer from Stetson and deserves much more attention as he continues to be a dangerous threat as a shooter and as an overall playmaker.
