I drove down to Henrico, VA this past weekend to check out one of my favorite events in CBG's Fall Warmup series , the Juco Prep Showcase. CBG does a great job of bringing in the top local prep schools to compete against junior college and high school groups as we gear up for another high school season. In this article, we'll break down a few of the top players that had a winning impact on their team this weekend. That could mean that the player led the game in scoring, was dynamic on the glass, was disruptive at the defensive end of the floor, or played with a motor. Let's dive in!

-I come away with Tchueffa's motor and willingness to do the little things for his team every time that I see him play-- this weekend was no different. Tchueffa was an absolute menace on the glass at both ends for his team because his feel for where the ball is coming off the rim has really come a long way over the past 6-8 months. He's making the game simpler on his offensive touches to either hit his opponent with a drop step to the baseline and a layup off glass or a simple turn middle then shoot a simple hook shot before the defense can get a good contest. He plays so hard at the defensive end of the floor to protect the rim for the Colts and showed more discipline to stay down on shot fakes. One of the most important players to his team in DC basketball.

-Walked away very impressed with Kuek's defensive impact as a rangy wing defender that has the length to guard frontcourt prospects and the footspeed to stay in front of guards. His ability to ice ball screens or close the gate on traps that led to turnovers and points at the other end for his team really stood out over the course of the afternoon. Kuek has also made some strides at the offensive end of the floor as both an off-ball cutter and a disruptive offensive rebounder. Kuek scored two big buckets from the dunkers spot to put his team ahead and closed out the game when he forced a huge turnover after he blew up a ball screen coming out of a timeout.

-"Bucketboy Dame" continues to prove to be one of the more consistent and effortless scorers in the area as a dynamic dual threat point guard in new threads with the Panthers. Robinson has mastered some of the micro skills when it comes to waiting for the screen to be set and coming off the pick tight to create space for himself in the halfcourt. Love his decision-making in the key throughout the afternoon as he consistently made the right read in a blowout win for PVI. I also really like the balance of Robinson's shot diet as a guard that has a super-consistent elbow jumper, can get to the rim at will, has a deep bag of finishing moves in the paint, and can knock down perimeter shots both off the bounce or off the catch. Should immediately be one of the best players and prospects in the WCAC this upcoming season as the straw that stirs the drink for a team that has won 3 of the last 4 WCAC titles.

-I wrote about Winiarski last week as a guard that I think should be drawing more attention at the national level and he followed that up with a masterful performance for Trinity in a win for his squad. Winiarski scored 30 points with six 3s and a slew of made FTs or transition twos to showed the balance in his offensive game. Winiarski showed me something as an on-ball defender that can really be disruptive as a high-IQ guard adept at predicting changes of direction from the ballhandler. Winiarski's scoring bag and finishing craft in the key really stood out over the afternoon as he showed an ability to score over a slew of different types of defenders.

-Allen led his team in scoring as a movement shooter that also showed a ton of moxie at both ends of the floor. Loved Allen's nose for the basketball as a shooter that understands where the ball is coming off and begins sprinting to the spot to beat out his matchup for key 50/50 balls. Allen also showed good feel as an off-ball cutter that wasn't afraid to chip in to come up with rebounds in the paint or catch his defender looking in the backcourt to excute a 45 cut or a backdoor cut to generate easy points for his team. Loved that Allen waits an extra half beat to get his matchup in his air around the basket and showed that he can utilize his pivot well to create better finishing angles in the paint.
