Wisconsin Freshman Showcase: Team 6 Evals

Breaking down the performances of the prospects from Team 6 at the Prep Hoops Wisconsin Freshman Showcase!    Quick and scrappy guard who provided an extra ball handling option for his team. Alan competed on the ball defensively, and was always one of the first players getting back on defense after a change of possession. Gill added in a nice corner three in transition in the second half of the game I watched.     Yet another Wisconsin Lutheran guard at the event, Rex was an active defender for Team 6. Quickly after checking into the game, he was making an impact battling the glass and poking the ball free for an early steal that led to his first three point make on the other end. Unselfish player who keeps the ball moving in the half-court, and always seemed to be one step ahead of the defense. I really liked his willingness to pass it ahead in transition to see if he could get his team an advantage.     Harris will be a high potential prospect to keep an eye on moving forward at Messmer. He already possesses a long and lanky frame at 6'4, with solid footwork and coordination on the ball. Maurice was active cutting off the ball looking for easy finishing opportunities inside, but could also beat smaller players off the dribble from the wing. Long frame helped him rise up and score over contesting defenders. Though he was at his best around the basket, Harris is capable of hitting the open three if you give him too much space.     Brody is an intriguing long-term prospect to keep an eye on out of Appleton East. He already stands at 6'5 coming into high school, and moves well at that size out on the perimeter. In the game I watched he checked in after five minutes, and immediately drained a three from the corner. Seems like one of those players who could develop into a mismatch nightmare down the road with his combination of size and perimeter skill.     Jarell is a shifty up-and-coming guard out of Holmen. He showed impressive quickness on the ball, with the ability to create separation for a shot with limited dribbles. There were times he got caught trying to do too much on the ball, but he has the type of flair and creativity that allowed him to create scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates seemingly out of thin air. Impressive speed getting up and down the floor in transition.     Already listed at 6'3, Mason could grow into a strong post presence at Barron over the coming years. He's still raw on the offensive end, but made an impact with his length around the basket defensively. Mason did a great job of walling up to make finishing uncomfortable for the opposing team, and he worked hard to secure rebounds in a crowd of players.     Hawk is a three point shooter with some size out on the wing. Already listed at 6'2, his frame will help him adjust at the high school level early on. Hawk is active moving without the ball just searching for pockets of space to catch-and-shoot from, and when left open he rarely seemed to miss. Hawk was also active on the glass, coming up with a put-back finish in transition after a teammate's miss.     Raymond was one of the top big men I saw over the weekend in Appleton. Already listed at 6'7, he has a strong frame that allows him to go to work out of the block. When he caught down low he did a good job of staying patient and seeing the floor, able to kick it out when a double-team came if needed. He's strong enough to keep his balance through contact, and has the coordination to finish on the move out in transition. Converted at a high percentage when he caught anywhere near the basket.     Braden was listed on the Team 5 roster, but played with Team 6 in the game I watched. He made an impact with his hustle early on, chasing down a three point miss and quickly going back up for an easy lay-up. Consistently made those extra effort plays to chase down rebounds or loose balls for his team.
