We held our Prep Hoops Expo this past Sunday at the Athletic Republic in Upper Marlboro for select prospects in the 2027-2029 classes. Players were split up into different groups to compete in drill work, 3 on 3 competition, and live 5 on 5 play. Our scouts getting a chance to see over 100 prospects compete in these different settings allowed for a very holistic viewing of the talents that they bring to the floor on an individual basis. In this article, we'll break down our third team from the showcase, with all 3 of the top teams of performers listed below.

- Really came away impressed with Rogers' burst as a 2-way point guard that put a ton of pressure on the rim both in transition and in halfcourt offense. Rogers displayed a pretty lethal double crossover move to get past his matchup throughout the day and finish with the inside hand lay at the rim, he knocked down a stop n pop 3 in transition, and took a defensive rebound coast-to-coast on several occasions-- showing his speed in the open floor. His ability to get into his defender's chest to negate his opponent's shot-blocking ability really stood out over the course of the afternoon.

-A prospect that should rise in our next set of updated rankings, I thought that Washington turned in one of the best true PG performances as a prospect that can really make plays for others. Love the pace that he plays with in transition and coming off of ball screens as he used a stutter step to set up live dribble passes or crossovers to get to his spots in the halfcourt. Washington raced it in transition and froze the big with the hesi before hitting the layup off the window, used a wide crossover to set up the pullup 3 off the bounce that hit nothing but net, and used a high pickup euro step to lay the ball up off the window through traffic in transition to score the bucket for his team.

-The jumper always travels with Moody in each setting that our evaluators catch him in but I also love how his shot diet continues to diversify as he rounds out his game. Moody has the confidence and strength to get a good seal on smaller defenders to score out of the low post, turns down contested threes to hit pull-up twos off the bounce, and is seeing the floor better as a passer in the halfcourt. His ability to play through contact around the rim blends well with a nice set of footwork to maneuver around the defense and score in traffic in the paint. Should be one of the best players in Class 1A this season as he steps into a more primary role with the graduation of several key pieces from last year's group.

My first viewing of Collins was at our event this weekend and I came away impressed with a balanced set of contributions at both ends of the floor. Collins used a quick set of hands to rip his matchup at halfcourt several times, possesses a really smooth change of gears in the halfcourt to get downhill in a hurry with or without a ball screen, had the IQ to turn the corner and get the ball up on the glass to draw the goaltending at a key point late in one of the 5 on 5 games, had a great closeout from the paint to block a corner 3, and stayed down on the spin move to punch a layup attempt later in the same game. Collins understands defensive help rotations well and switches onto perimeter players well after forcing his matchup to give up the ball on drives to the rim. Collins should make a case for the best player in the Bayside Conference this season.
