The leap that we expected to see with Rogers this weekend playing with his new school in Southern Maryland Christian lived up to expectations. His presence is a massive addition for head coach Hillary Haley as this roster was missing a lead guard who not only can control the tempo and dictate action from the point of attack, but also score from all three levels with consistency, especially when the offense needs a spark. This was the case as they went up against a formidable MIAA B Conference opponent in Concordia Prep when Rogers went for a game high 19PTS, 12 of which came from deep. His ability to demand gravity from the volleyball line allows him to shift into his quick burst and slither his way into the paint, collapsing the defense to set up others or finish himself with floaters or crafty layups.

– Really came away impressed with Rogers’ burst as a 2-way point guard that put a ton of pressure on the rim both in transition and in halfcourt offense. Rogers displayed a pretty lethal double crossover move to get past his matchup throughout the day and finish with the inside hand lay at the rim, he knocked down a stop n pop 3 in transition, and took a defensive rebound coast-to-coast on several occasions– showing his speed in the open floor. His ability to get into his defender’s chest to negate his opponent’s shot-blocking ability really stood out over the course of the afternoon.

Rogers spent the day putting a ton of pressure on the opposing defense with his quick-twitch ability. Constantly got into the paint or all the way to the rim and made things happen both as a scorer or distributor. Showed his balance as a lead guard who can set the table for others or come through as a scorer from deep or around the rim with nice touch on floaters or scoop layups as he snuck the ball by rotating shot blockers.

Pesky defender both on/off ball who looks to speed up the tempo and push in transition for quick buckets.

Rogers is another prospect I’m looking forward to getting a live evaluation on after a summer with TTO National. The 5-foot-11 lead guard has range well beyond the three-point line and the confidence to take over a game in just a few possessions. This environment will suit his strengths as a guy with end-to-end speed, ability to space the floor both off the catch or off the bounce and Rogers will have plenty of room to operate in iso’s or ball screens and prove his processing skills as a passer.

In a more recent development, Rogers decided to make a move from St. Charles to Southern Maryland Christian Academy and reclass to 2028 in the process. The sharpshooting lead guard is coming off a junior campaign for St. Charles averaging 23.2PPG, 4RPG, 3SPG and 2.8APG. He showed good sign with Team Takeover National this summer where he displayed his lethal long-range shooting both off the bounce or off the catch. The gravity he demands beyond the arc allows for the floor to open up for both he and teammates to attack driving lanes more freely. If he can sustain somewhat similar numbers at SMCA while improving his point guard skillset, he’ll certainly be a name to monitor moving forward.

Rogers is a speedster guard who thrives with his quick first step. He frequently touched the paint and has good chemistry with his post players to use their screens which free up space and allow him to create offense. He contributes to the game in so many different ways. Rogers connected on his fair share of three pointers. Like how he was able to be in lanes to collect steals throughout the game.

Jamari has been one of the most consistent and explosive scorers in the area, leading his league averaging over 20 points per game. He’s a true three-level scorer with deep shooting range, smooth footwork, and a polished handle that allows him to get wherever he wants on the floor. He’s comfortable pulling up off the dribble or finishing at the rim through contact. His offensive bag is deep which keeps his defenders at a disadvantage, making him a constant problem for opposition and a proven varsity-level scoring option. He should see more recruitment as he is proven as a consistent and high-level production player for multiple seasons.

Jamari put on an absolute show against Great Mills and was lethal from the opening tip all the way through the final stretch. Early on he came out scoring in bunches and immediately set the tone by drilling deep threes and ripping away possessions that took the air out of the opponent. He continued to hit triples all night and punished any defensive mistake with high-level shot-making. He also brought an edge defensively, jumping passing lanes and ripping the ball at least five times in both the backcourt and half-court. Around the basket, Jamari showed high-level footwork with pivots and patience, creating angles and opening up layups through traffic. He finished strong through contact, living at the line and converting and-one plays that kept momentum on his side. There were a couple moments where loose dribbling led to a turnover and easy points the other way, but overall he was the most dangerous player on the floor and stayed aggressive the entire night.

Jamari jumped on the Prep Hoops radar after a few big games during the regular season out in Charles County. He only followed it up with Capitol Hoops SL All-Star honors during the Summer League. Led the team in scoring with over 18 per game. Although underrated, Jamari has a deep offensive bag that features an arsenal of scoring moves. Jamari can spend the game lighting up the opponent from beyond the arc. If the defense takes heed to his shooting ability, Jamari finds ways to break down the tough defense and get into scoring position. He can score inside the paint amongst the bigs thanks to his elusiveness.

Big-time public school prospect in the making. Jamari first caught our scouts’ eyes in the regular season, taking and making some incredible shots and willing his team to victroy. This summer has been more of the same, named as a Capitol Hoops Summer League All Star on the public side. Averaged over 20 points a game during the CHSL and made a statement that he is here to stay. Efficient scorer that gets his baskets with ease. He can create for himself well with his dribble, gets space for his shots all over the midrange and paint. Jamari can shoot the ball all game if you let him, but once you step up he can make you pay inside the arc. One of the top-scoring public school guards in the area. Look for him to make a jump in the rankings come next update.
