Yesterday at this time we wrote about the D1 prospects schools could look to, and two of them - [player_tooltip player_id='2362161' first='Matthew' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2126458' first='Luke' last='Schroeder'] - committed to division two schools within the new few hours (Minnesota State Mankato and Concordia-St. Paul respectively). So today we give you the top five players that D2s can pivot to now that so many top D2 targets are off the board. Who are they? Will two of them commit by this time tomorrow morning? Have a look and find out!

When it comes to players that D2 schools have pursued and offered, Asher now moves into the top spot when it comes to recruits available. Minnesota State-Moorhead, Sioux Falls, Northern State and Southwest Minnesota State have all offered Asher scholarships. The 6'8 200 plus pound power forward has really become stronger, he's skilled, agile, and his team was one of the best in Class A last season with Asher averaging 23.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks a game plus he shot over 40 percent form the three point line.

It seems like it's time for [player_tooltip player_id='2126450' first='Gavin' last='Walter'] to step back into the recruiting forefront. Gavin was committed to Northern Iowa but a change of staff has led to a change of recruitment at UNI and Walter is now open. At 6'4/6'5, Walter is a smooth, skilled player that has spent time at just about every position in high school (I saw him playing PG for the Rebels as a sophomore and I saw him guarding fives for Hoop Habits a bit this 17u season). The skills and versatility are there and I would expect some D2 schools to step in soon, if they haven't already.

Ray was the steadiest player for the Comets this 17u season. Last winter as a junior Ray averaged 26.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 63.2 percent from the field. He is strong and steady in the paint and we believe he is perfectly built for the D2 frontcourt to be a steady force. There are a few D2 options for him out there but now that half the NSIC got their future frontcourt talents from the high school ranks, there is room for some others to step in and get their guy, and Ray looks like a fit to be their option.

The agile and skilled 6'7/6'8 [player_tooltip player_id='2436914' first='Kellen' last='Troup'] ended his high school season leading his team to the State Championship. After Troup scored a game high 24 points, including four three pointers and three dunks in the second half to beat Goodhue 81-69 for the title, Troup was named all state and was one of the hotter prospects in the state. But sometimes when you spend a lot of time traveling in 17u (as [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] does and should do because they are on the Adidas 3SSB) and others play more local, those locals snatch up more of the division two chances and I think we saw that with Kellen. But make no mistake, Troup has the physical abilities to play at that level and I think we could see somebody step forward and recruit him if they have the space. Kellen is definitely talented enough.

We have a running line with Dre and it goes like this....

"high school basketball players just don't have the combination of height, strength, and agility to continually move with Dre for a full game and he physically overwhelms people"

That is [player_tooltip player_id='2412724' first='Dre' last='Collins'] and that is why he is always first or second team spring/summer all state and he is always first or second team class AAA all state. Collins is one of the most consistently productive physical prospects in this state and while at D2 players will be "bigger, faster, and stronger", Collins would show up on day one physically ready.

Yesterday at this time we wrote about the D1 prospects schools could look to, and two of them - Matthew Johnson Matthew Johnson Matthew Johnson 6'5" | SG St. Louis Park | 2027 State MN and Luke Schroeder Luke Schroeder Luke Schroeder 6'3" | SG Shakopee | 2027 State MN - committed to division two schools within the new few hours (Minnesota State Mankato and Concordia-St. Paul respectively). So today we give you the top five players that D2s can pivot to now that so many top D2 targets are off the board. Who are they? Will two of them commit by this time tomorrow morning?
