The Expo: Team 3 Prospect Breakdown

The Expo brought together 160 prospects from the 2027 and 2028 classes at Supreme Courts in Aurora, creating a competitive environment with plenty of talent looking to make an impression. After previously breaking down Team 13, I'm continuing the series with Team 3, which featured a solid group of prospects who each brought something different to the floor.    Perez showed a feel for the game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he displayed three-point range, good vision as a passer, and an understanding of how to create opportunities through ball movement, spacing, and cutting. He did a nice job reading defenders and finding backdoor opportunities while also showing the ability to push in transition and make quick decisions. Despite his smaller size, Perez competed on the glass and brought good effort defensively. He showed awareness as a help defender and used a high hand on closeouts, though continuing to improve his closeout quickness will be important.     Loew showed a willingness to impact the game in different ways, particularly with his unselfish approach. He did a good job creating opportunities for teammates through off-ball screening while also showing a willingness to compete on the glass and box out. Defensively, Loew showed awareness in gap help and communicated well when navigating screens. I'd like to see him be more aggressive with the ball in his hands, similar to what I saw from him during the circuit season. Overall, Loew has a good foundation and still has room to grow heading into his junior season.     Harvey's summer saw him make great strides, and he showed multiple areas where he can make a major impact this past weekend. He plays with maturity and leadership while consistently competing with a high level of effort. Offensively, Harvey showed three-point scoring ability, solid ball-handling, and a good feel for finding angles to get to the rim. He played with a great pace, showed vision in the open court, and shared the ball effectively, making those around him better. Defensively, he was active, created pressure, and rebounded strongly. Harvey has the ability to be an effective scorer while also providing value as a playmaker, giving him a well-rounded foundation heading into the season.     Richardson showed a strong defensive presence throughout the event, using his length and activity to make things difficult for opposing ball-handlers. He applied tight on-ball pressure, picked up the ball early, and used active hands to create turnovers. Richardson also showed good awareness as a help defender, providing support in the paint. Offensively, he made an impact as a cutter and showed some patience around the basket with his shot fake. He also ran the floor well in transition, giving him opportunities to contribute on both ends.     Phillips showed good two-way potential with his length and effort standing out on both ends. His lengthy frame gives him an advantage defensively, where he competed well on the glass and showed the ability to impact shots around the rim. Offensively, Phillips showed some creativity with the ball, including the ability to play above the rim, split defenders, and make plays off the bounce. He also showed good awareness as a passer, reacting to the defense and finding teammates when driving.     Rouse showed a good feel for the game on both ends, playing with his eyes up and making the extra pass to create opportunities for teammates. He was active off the ball and showed value as a perimeter threat, staying ready to catch and shoot while also displaying the ability to pull up from deep with a quick release. Defensively, Rouse showed good awareness with his head on a swivel and did a good job finding a body when shots went up. His combination of perimeter movement, shooting ability, and unselfish play gave him a solid impact.     Giannini provided a two-way mindset throughout the event, making an impact with his ability to pressure the defense and stay active on the other end. Offensively, he used hesitation moves to get by defenders and showed good passing feel, finding teammates and putting them in position to score. He also well attacking closeouts and putting pressure on the interior. Defensively, Giannini brought a strong level of focus, picking up the ball and using good lateral quickness to stay in front. He fought through screens and created deflections, showing an enthusiasm to make an impact defensively.     Garner brought a defensive presence, using full-court pressure to make it difficult for opponents to advance the ball. He also showed good awareness on the weak side and stayed engaged away from the ball. Offensively, Garner has a spot-up three-point shot that can be a weapon, with consistency on his makes being the next step. Overall, his defensive activity and shooting potential give him a groundwork to build on.     Harvey's athleticism and activity was noticed on both ends of the floor. He has a nice burst getting to the rim and showed vision as a passer in transition, while also running the floor hard and making himself available as a cutter. Harvey showed good feel for finding space, including flashing to the high post. Defensively, his lateral quickness allowed him to stay in front of opponents, while his active hands created disruption. His combination of athleticism, movement, and defensive activity gives him multiple ways to impact the game.     Nguyen had the toughness and offensive feel throughout the event. He did a good job cutting from the weak side and finding ways to get into gaps in the defense with his ball-handling ability. Nguyen showed an eagerness to attack bodies when getting to the rim and finish through contact against bigger opponents. His ability to navigate tight spaces and play through contact gives him a solid base as an offensive contributor.
