Phillips was unselfish with his body throughout the showcase. He straight up bullied opposing teams on rebounds and was a bruiser under the hoop. He consistently took advantage of put-back opportunities, using his strength and physicality to create second-chance points, but he also showed that he could put the ball on the floor and drive to the rim. Phillips’ team-first mentality was evident in his willingness to sacrifice his body, clean up the glass, and battle for second chance opportunities.

Phillips showed good two-way potential with his length and effort standing out on both ends. His lengthy frame gives him an advantage defensively, where he competed well on the glass and showed the ability to impact shots around the rim. Offensively, Phillips showed some creativity with the ball, including the ability to play above the rim, split defenders, and make plays off the bounce. He also showed good awareness as a passer, reacting to the defense and finding teammates when driving.

Brenden suited up for Playing 4 Greatness on the 17U circuit and looked comfortable despite playing up an age group. His speed was impossible to ignore throughout the weekend. Whether he had the ball in his hands or was making plays defensively, he was consistently one of the quickest players on the floor. He was extremely active in the passing lanes, turning steals into easy transition opportunities. On the offensive end, he attacked downhill aggressively and repeatedly put pressure on the defense. Brenden’s combination of quickness and defensive activity makes him a dangerous two-way slasher.
